I'll always regret never being able to see him in person, but the great thing about KZbin is being able to watch him whenever I feel like laughing. His comedy will be truly eternal.

@@johnfriend862 We lost our dog recently and my husband was pretty down along with myself. It was his clips from youtube (most he hadn't heard) that got him to laugh for the first time. His delivery, timing and ability to make you feel like he'd be a friend, just draws you in.

There are comedians, and then comedian’s comedians, and then whatever comes above them, and then, after them, there was John. He was the Citizen Kane of comedians…wholly original and likely never to be matched. We were insanely lucky to have had him, and to have videos like this to remember him by. I hope he knew exactly how much he was loved. The Beatles sang that in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make. John created a LOT of love everywhere he went, and it’s obvious that he took an immeasurable amount with him when he left us.

I booked him very early in his career. It was 1987 and the venue was the Atlantic Inn on Block Island. What a funny man! He looked 14 at the time. Many stories from just a weekend. The crowds- 4 shows-loved him. I always thought I would see him again. I never did.
