I have been so weak spiritually today. I failed miserably and sins against my good savior. His word encouraged me to repent and get back to his sweet mercy. Sinning against our savior is the worst act of treason we committed against our Lord. We decided to side with Satan when we sin. We chose our enemies over our dear savior. May God help us hate sin and things of the world.

Michael Featherlore please in your own mind really see if this reasoning is valid here. And please read the scripture on what God says about those that mediate day and night on the scripture. I literally wrote in my journal this very response of yours as the limiting glass ceiling for the true knowledge of God being outworked through the church. @@MichaelFeatherlore888 So, what's your problem with someone who loves to listen to Scripture and receive encouragement from it? I find his particular rendering of Romans 8 great to listen to just because it's not read but spoken with depth and meaning. I wonder if you have listened to John Piper preaching before? If you had you'd have more of an understanding of his heart, and wouldn't misjudge his motives as you have. Actually, if you could find the whole sermon, John explains why he quoted such a lot of Scripture that day. The complete message is: "If My Words abide in you," in case you want to look for it. 😊😊

What is amazing, at least to me, is the Aramaic version of the bible. It is old, but is translated from old Hebrew, old Latin, but the New Testament, at least the teachings of Jesus are from Aramaic. My favorite is in Matthew 27:46 When Jesus cries out Eli, Eli, shabakthani" That means for My God, My God, for this I was spared. We know many people who were being crucified would suffer for days, Jesus was thanking His Father for allowing him to be in pain for only suffer for 9 hours.

Which Bible translation is JP using for Romans 8? It looks like the RSV... but which version? Since Piper's words on Romans 8 are stuck in my head anyway (I can hear them if I try) I want to memorize Romans 8 properly.

He started with a few Psalms--Psalm 1, Psalm 16, and Psalm 103. Then he quoted some from the beginning of Romans 5 before doing all of Romans 8. The "do not be anxious" part is from the end of Luke 12, and the section on love is 1 Corinthians 13.
