I first heard John Prine in 1976 and he quickly became my all-time favorite songwriter. I saw him in concert about 5 times (not nearly enough) over the years. As I learned more about him, I grew to admire him greatly. He was a genius with words. He was down to earth. He was a kind, caring human being, and he made you think that he could have been your best friend if you could only meet him. He was unassuming, compassionate, considerate and was very generous with his time when he'd meet fans of his no matter where he was. The stories are endless. I will always miss him, the best friend I never met. RIP John, and thank you for sharing your amazing talent with the world for over 50 years.

Some of the very best songwriting of our modern times. Everyone in the band sounds really good.. but the bass part/player really makes this tune for me.

This is what I was listening to at age 18 (Yeah, I admit my age). I just imagine what a concert featuring John Prine, John Hiatt, and John Mellencamp on the same bill would have been like.
