My older brother in law used to play John Prine records when I was a young boy.. I use to always wonder why he played that stuff. As I grew older I began to understand why. I'm 56 this year, and John is probably the music I play most. I completely get it now.

Can't believe this song is that old. I got turned on by Prine in just the last 5 years or so. Never paid that much attention to his music, but I appreciate him now so much! Wish I would have seen him play live back in the day.

I've been a John Prine fan all my life since I was just a baby. I even got one of his CDs for my birthday. the album i got was from 1991 its the Missing Years. He has been an influence in my life by the music he plays. didn't even know there were so many Prine fans out there

It's great how John has the confidence have someone pick with him who's technically a better player, coz he knows he's the big dog here. John Burns is very deferential, as he is when they play Paradise in another part of this video. I think of John as the Mark Twain of our lives.

Got to see John in Davis, CA last November a few months before the plague took him away and turned the world upside down in so many other ways. I was a fan of his since I first heard Sam Stone on KZAP radio so many years ago I can hardly believe it. Rest In Peace old friend, your songs live on.

I cannot find words to describe the dept of my love for John Prine's artistry and insights. It will always be a true regret that I never had the opportunity to see and hear him perform live. I know some day when I hear him, I won't be sad, but these days I still smile when I hear him, but then smile turns upside down.

"Prime Prine" was a great way of introducing yourself to his music! I learned to play guitar by listening to his records and in recent years tried to thank him for that, but I don't think my message ever actually reached him.

@jordanthecat Same here. I found John Prine fall of '73 and it was a perfect fit. I had been playing guitar a while but not musically talented. Then John Prine revealed what I had been missing. His music, his words, his heart. Dylan (called him the best songwriter on the scene) and Prine were all I ever needed.

Hot afternoon day at Red Rocks, Prine opened for the Avett brothers. Should have been the other way around. Prine is a legendary artist and Avetts are popular now see if you heard of them in 2040! To their credit, they did acknowledge Prine's greatness, but promoter went for the cash money!
