A part of me died today, Frankie. I know you and countless others probably feel that loss and sadness. I was a letter carrier for thirty years,on a foot route, and every day I looked for the opportunity to say "hello in there". John's advice was part of me and perhaps I was able to bring a smile and some comfort to some older, lonesome customer. Now I am of a certain age where I look for that person who might say "hello in there". May you rest in peace John , smoke your nine mile long cigarette and enjoy your vodka and ginger ale. You were a gift to all of us.

John Prine...may not have be that popular with the masses...but he certainly was a fan favorite of his peers. To me...that is the greatest compliment. We'll never again be able to burn one with John Prine ... But I'll certainly burn one listening to his songs. You took life John, threw it into notes and chords, mixed them, added words in a way that only you could, and gave us life in all is ways and means in some of the greatest music ever listened to. I'm saddened by a loss that is being felt around the world right now. But we are selfish creatures, so we won't let you die completely, we will keep the part of you, that you yourself loved best, the singer and the songs, the sound, they beauty, alive and picking that guitar for ever. Rest in Peace...

Never too late to learn about the countrymusic folklore writer and singer John Prine. Picked up the guitar again a few years back at the age of 70, just to play for fun and family. I was watching a couple of KZbin instructors showing how to finger style play "Paradise" and "In Spite of Ourselves" by John Prine and I was hooked. I started googling everything I could find about the man, and was pleasantly surprised and pleased about everything I read about him. ❤😊

My husband and I along with a couple of friends went to hear John Prine in the early 70s. He was performing at the Louis Armstrong theater at Grand Valley State College. It was just him and his guitar on the stage. There were only about 200 people in the audience. From the first song---no, the first note--we knew that John Prine was extraordinary. Thank you, John.

He died with a positive test. Doesn't mean that's what killed him.
@garylewis3274 жыл бұрын
Scott Baxendale you got that right. He wasn't in the best of health but he had more life in him and he wasn't ready to go yet. What killed him will probably be listed as pneumonia. But that's probably what is listed on all of Covid-19's victims' reports. John, like so many other victims, was vulnerable because of his age and his underlying health issues. He had COPD and he had had lung cancer and throat cancer earlier, as most people probably already know. And he had hip surgery just before this happened. I don't really care what is listed on the coroner's report. I just miss him, and I am so , so sorry for Fiona, the boys, the band and every one of his loved ones. It's hard enough to swallow just being a fan, albeit one who has loved his music for decades, and who never met him. But I can't imagine what his loved ones are going through.
