Erstaunlich fein komponiert und wunderschön interpretiert mit gut harmonisierten Stimmen der ausgezeichneten Chöre und durchsichtigen doch herrlichen Stimmen beider genialen Solisten sowie gut vereinigten und perfekt entsprechenden Tönen aller Instrumente. Der intelligente und erfahrene Dirigent leitet das ausgezeichnete Kammerensemble im gut betrachteten Tempo und mit perfekt kontrollierter Dynamik. Einfach wunderbar!

Everytime I hear a John Rutter work my cynical brain starts out complaining "oh here comes goofy ol' John Rutter doing his same old John Rutter things". But by the end my heart is moved and, more likely than not, there's a tear in my eye. No one does it like him.

Comparing this with his 'Gloria', which just sounds like regurgitated Walton to my ears, here is the true Rutter. Simple and sincere. Nothing forced. Yes, bringing Tallis's Canon is something that Britten did at the end of 'Noyes Fludde', and the figuration beneath is from Fauré's Requiem, but it took Rutter to combine the two.
