Some continuity that goes around. Remember in ep 19 when Shadow is revealing himself and got interrupted by Rose with the Stylish Bandit Slayer flashback? Right after that Cid says something along the lines of "But I thought that was a Theriantrope girl" He was indeed referring to Yukime, and in this episode, when he mentions his Senpai he's talking about Roseand how those events were so similar. If you remember a few episodes back the beastman has a flashback of Cid in his paper bag mask slashing him, and even further back when Rose realises he is the bandit slayer Cid talks to himself thinking that the girl he saved was a theriantrope, both of those things were about what happened to the fox girls village, that was Cid at the end who saved her when you hear that random AAAAHHAAAAAAA when she begins to black out in the flashback

To be fair, she had 2 choices, one, being hit by that attack (what she did) and take all the damage, or two, keep the mist form and avoid the hit and the damage, but that would send all the mist into the air, which was potentially more dangerous, because there is no way to tell how far away would she be sent.
