Alexia basically said she needs to be smart about the ways of the world instead of just swinging her sword blindly which kinda ticked Iris off a bit since that's all Iris has; her swordsmanship. Alexia is properly going the right way in becoming strong in both physically and mentally that even Cid acknowledge her effort in previous episode.

@@Timmycoo Especially ironic since the roles are reversed now. In the past, Iris tried to support Alexia and said how she admired Alexia's swordsmanship. But Alexia took it the wrong way, as condescension from someone pitying her and looking down on her, needing to be consoled for being so mundane and ordinary. It wasn't until she encountered Shadow and saw just how far "Ordinary" could take someone that she realized that it really *was* an honest compliment, same as with Cid; there really were people who didn't just look down on her and saw the value in her way of doing things. She had been desperate for approval and acknowledgement, but at the same time refused to believe it when she *did* receive it. And now, Iris is the one desperate and wanting the approval and acknowledgement that she _isn't_ weak or foolish or prideful, that she didn't make a mistake. She wants to rationalize and excuse her actions and wants someone to vindicate her; and then along comes her sister talking about "wildly swinging my sword" and "earning the right to stand in that place". Iris can only hear, "you failed because you were just wildly swinging your sword", "you don't deserve to stand on the big stage", "it's not about being strong, it's that you're stupid"; and she's taking it personally, as if Alexia is ridiculing her, the same way Alexia believed she was treated in the past. I've mentioned this on another video, but one thing I connected recently is that eye color is often symbolic of personality in Anime, as the eyes are seen as "windows into the soul". Red is the color of warriors; the color of blood and aggression. Iris's hair, which can be taken to represent appearances and vanity, is Red, but her eyes are Green which can symbolize an unskilled person (you're too green, come back in 100 years and maybe you'll stand a chance) as well as a color representing Envy (Green with Envy). By contrast, Alexia's eyes are Red; she's a true warrior in spirit on the inside, but hidden by the appearance of being "blank" or "plain", symbolized by her white hair.

Alpha turns blue as she turns herself into mist, the novel actually mentioned Cid almost killed Alpha there, as she was in mistform and Cid created a strong wind that would blow the mist away. If Alpha didn't change back to normal form fast enough, she would've disappeared like mist and died. But it's not mentioned in the anime

Alpha mastered it to a degree that she could face off with Cid and our man here instantly recognised the pro and cons (pros- flight,invulnerability,cons- lack of mass,predictable attacks patterns since it requires the user to solidify in order to attack)

I think the reason that Alpha didn't want to have anyone else come with her to face John Smith is that from her POV, he was strong enough to beat 3 of hsubordinatesates, so she sent Delta, only to find out that she "lost her life" with that bit of her hair found at the wreck, which meant anyone else below Delta in terms of Power would be helpless against him and might become more casualties. and Delta is practically the 3rd Strongest in terms of combat power in Shadow Garden behind only Shadow and Alpha.

For the record, John Smith did not knock her out of the mist form. He generated so much air pressure that she had no choice but to cancel the form or else risk being spread too far apart to rematerialize. Also, side note: alpha learned this after studying the blood queen's techniques.

I love how Stylish Bandit slayer just comes in screaming at Gettan lol. And this episode made me feel for Alpha. It's funny though when she came at him, he says "well, that makes sense" that Alpha is a lot stronger than Delta and can see through his attacks. Respect given. But Cid's vague responses are just so he can complete his and Yukime's plan without them getting involved. I really hope that Alpha comes back around quickly because the group thinking Delta is dead should be something they know he wouldn't do but the raw emotion most likely overrides complete logic. Also there was a VERY end after-credits scene of the tower that Delta was told to go to hunt Juggernaut and everything was on fire lol. So he basically got off screened.

I mean... it's a bit of an unfair matchup. Mist-form is an incredible counter to a niche fighting style which relies entirely on restricting the movement of objects/attacks through area denial in the form of many fast moving and strong threads. If your opponent can turn mist form and be impossible to hit physically its almost hard countered. You'd also be assuming that a "real" John Smith who can fight at that level would have no other magic or any physical ability, which is highly improbable. Don't get me wrong, I agree she would win, and because of the match up would win without having much risk. But it wouldn't be a GG and done moment.
