Doing this for chorus this year, and that clapping is HARD. Clapping on the upbeat while the other sections are clapping on the downbeat isn't easy!

Clapping and singing isn't easy, but the bass part is easy to learn.

I'm doing this in chorus too. But I don't think clapping is hard, for me it is easy.

My high school did this last year and as a soprano 1 it was so hard on my voice! Still one of the best songs we’ve done!

I'm a bass. This is the first piece of choral music I ever sang seriously in high school. I love it so much!

Doesn't it suck if your choir doesn't get to do this song just because they can't clap

I'm gonna clarify this now to the people saying this is too fast... The thing is, there is no set speed in music, even with written tempos, it's all up to the musician's view. The thing is, written music isn't a guideline, it's not even a set of rules but instead a series suggestions. ~ya boi BISSA If i'm wrong correct me

I'm pretty sure this is the tempo suggested for the piece. This is about the same tempo we took when we did the song years back.

I sang this arrangement of the song and this is the “correct” tempo. I personally think its the best fast anyway

At a certain point, there is some offbeat clapping, but that's written in the copies we use.

some of the upper structures in the vocal harmonies are insane! what is the last chord!? Looking at the score it looks like an AminMaj7 with a 9th in the sopranos stratosphere. Am I reading that right? Listening to it, sounds like some kind of 7th chord with a sharp 11. but wow
@qwertydeluxe

Rico Howard Yup, A minor, with sopranos adding in a major 7 and 9. The 11th flavor might come from the piano reinforcing those harmonies. The right hand just looks like a Cmajor7 augmented chord, but becomes the chord we named above because of the A in the bass. Funky stuff!

@Bowler It looked as though the sopranos were doing some offbeat clapping. It sounded like it was right. I don't think the audience really got in the way too much. Maybe that's just me.
