I mean he even strangled Catwoman in the Matt Reeves Batman film attempting to kill her but in the show we don't see anything really at all (other then him framing Sofia for his murders). John Turturro was even in a movie (I forget the name) where he was basically carrying a womans severed head throughout chunks of it so Turturro seems like a hypocrite to me!

Soooo, I haven't watched a single episode. Not a clue about the story and just know it deals with Penguin and the Falcone's, Gotham's mafia family. In that environment there is absolutely violence directed at women. And if he wants to say he doesn't wish to do something that he is uncomfortable portraying as an actor that is, of course, his prerogative however it is something that is real. In a perfect world it would not exist, but we don't live in that world we live in this one and as an actor is his responsibility to tell the story, to hold a light up to that dark side of society so everyone can see it, whether he agrees with it or not to the best of his ability and if he has issue with it is only right another take his place. Perhaps something in the script triggered him, we don't know his personal life. Maybe he witnessed something as a child that makes portraying violence towards women as distasteful , we not in his head, and to be honest its none of our business.
