John picking the revolvers apart and putting em together differently was inspired by the in 1966 produced Masterpiece Of All Times Legendary Classic: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, last in the Dollar Trilogy, made by Sergio Leone. Where Eli Wallach, who plays The Ugly called Tuco, does the same thing. And i LOVE that they put it in the movie.

The scene where he builds his own gun from parts is a homage to the movie "The good the bad and the ugly" i will not spoil it for you if you have not seen it, you might want to do it in a future reaction. The main thing is that in that movie the actor that put together the gun from parts did not know anything about guns he just improvised the scene and it turned out so great the director decided to keep it as it is, it is a legendary improvisation scene.
