Many of you recommended this movie to me after I watched the first John Wick so needless to say I was very excited to find out more about John Wick and his story. I was VERY VERY happy to see John get his car back and was also pleasantly surprised to see Laurence Fishburne in this! Love to see Neo and Morpheus reunite😃I hope you enjoy my reaction!🥰

Everyone seems to overlook the fact that the Doctor from chapter 1 is the Keymaker from The Matrix Reloaded. Keanu is bringing multiple coworkers from The Matrix into John Wick and I love the camaraderie!

The one guy working for Vigo who gave John the hardest time was Daniel Bernhardt, also one of the agents in the Matrix Reloaded.

One thing I love about John Wick's movies are the small details. For example, in the first one we see Vigo toasting with vodka with his son when he finds out what the little rascal did to John, but after punching him in the belly, Vigo does not drink, and pours himself another glass instead. This is because in Russia if you put down the glass with which you are toasting, it means you don't support the cause you are toasting to. Here, we see how Vigo's brother drinks the glass till the last drop: he really wants peace, and is eager to demonstrate. Also, when Santino comes to John's house, he is offered a coffee. Instead of pouring him a coffee already made from the jar, John makes him an espresso, in pure italian style, showing that he initially respects his guest.

There is one other detail about that vodka gut punch. Viggo gave his son a glass of cheap vodka, because he wanted his son to feel the burn going down and coming back up. Afterwards, Viggo pours himself a glass of the expensive vodka.

Suppressors, commonly called silencers in movies, don't make them that quiet. They do muffle the sound a bit but anyone in the area would still hear the shots.

To be fair, sub-sonic ammunition + suppressor can get really quiet, still not as much as in the movie but not as loud as with normal ammo by far.

To add on to this a little bit. A suppressed 9mm, not even rifle rounds 5.56, 7.62 etc, from standard pistols is stupid loud. Measuring by decibels it's louder than thunder and about as loud as a jackhammer, so you can imagine what a suppressed 7.62x51mm sounds like. So there's no chance that no one in those crowds didn't hear it. But that being said, it's a movie, and I'm sure it was the director's choice to do it this way for the sake of comedic relief, which I can understand. Silencers by itself is a misnomer, as actual suppressors are honestly not very good at doing much "silencing" outside helping silencing the victims. Their most common use by just about every tier of Special Forces, is to eliminate all muzzle flash. Which is a little ironic in the scene where he and Cassian are shooting at each other along the subway platforms and balconies, because you can clearly see muzzle flash exiting both of their suppressors. The closest you're gonna get to Hollywood level silencing, is slapping a can on a .22 LR or getting long can to slap onto MP5, MPX or any other AR Pistol variants that would take 9mm. For rifles, slap a very fucking nice (expensive) and fairly large can / suppressor onto a platform that runs.300 Blackout subsonic rounds. Even then, it's still gonna be waaaay louder than what movies would like you to think. The .22 LR is really the closest it'll get to that level of pip-squeak sounding gun-fire.

They actually are, nowadays. The best silencers can reduce gunshots to nearly 14 decibels. To compare, a soft whisper is a about 28 decibels.

With the Bowery King, his movie introduces the idea (which gets expanded upon in John Wick 3) that there are separate secret societies that serve the High Table but have their own set of values, ethics and rules and their own agendas which don't always align with those of High Table. I think that this and the conflict it can cause within the High Table's empire may play an important part in John Wick 4.

I love how Laurence and Keanu`s dynamic as The Bowery King and John Wick/Jardani is similar to their relationship as Neo and Morpheus but Laurence is so much more expressive as The Bowery King than he ever was as Morpheus.

Well, they are very different characters. Morpheus's calm, controlled manner reflects his discipline and focus. The Bowery King is flamboyant, always putting on a show to convey his self-confidence. But they're both impressive, just in different ways.

In case anybody was wondering, the two body shots followed by a head shot, is referred to as the "Mozambique Drill". It is very common practice amongst most military's. Great video👍👍

What John does is call the Failure Drill, or Mozambique Drill (it has several names), which consists of two shots to the chest and one to the head. If the shots to the chest result in a "failure to stop your opponent" the shot to the head absolutely will. Mr. Wick tends to make sure his opponents are dead and can't retaliate.

What's impressive -- not to mention unlikely -- is that John makes every head shot he takes. There's a reason they teach you to shoot for the body first, the head is much smaller and harder to hit. John's accuracy is practically superhuman.

He's accurate enough that he should skip the body shots altogether, thus improving his speed and efficiency. (Of course, it's possible that this is the style he was originally taught before he was such a good marksman, and by now it's so ingrained in his muscle memory that it'd disrupt his accuracy if he tried to jump straight to the head shot.)

The reason D’antonio needed John dead after the contract was so that he had no connection to his sister’s murder. Remember, he could not kill her himself because that was his sister so he needed someone else to do it.

In the Marines we do a shooting drill that consists of two to the chest and one to the head. Its fairly common. One of the quickest and easiest ways to ensure you've neutralized a threat. Generally even firearms with a suppressor (silencer) are still pretty loud unless you're using subsonic ammo, which can make it much more quiet but not as quiet as the movie would have you believe. People definitely would have noticed.

The case with John's guns and coins represent his old life while the concrete covering them represents his notations of being retired. In the first movie, we see John destroying the concrete, representing him digging up his past life. Then in the beginning of this movie, we see him piling the destoryed bits of concrete back into the hole and then concreting them back up, representing him attempting to reassemble the veil of his retirement. However, the concrete is fresh and not solid, representing that his retirement is weak and easily removed again. I like to think this symbolism was thought of by Keanu since it goes well with the heavy symbolism of his most famous movie before John Wick in the Matrix. Do also note that every option John chooses with his suit has an actual purpose with him doing his job. I can't remember it all though. Based on his actions when he arrived in the lounge, I believe that had Santino apologized to John for the trouble he caused him and offered to pull the contract and rebuild John's house, John might've let him leave. But of course, being the little shit that he is, he just had to antagonize John. This is the first time I've seen a reactor bring up Aurelio and John's car. Never thought about it before. I think that so long as he didn't give it back to John, he could still work on it despite the excommunicado.

Santino had pretty much infinite money, and could afford to stay at the Continental until someone killed John while the contract would stay open, which he would keep open and maybe increase the bounty until the job was done. John couldn't keep going forever, and he knew it

To answer your question about the suppressed firearms about midway through the movie, no, they are not that quiet. A suppressed gun shot sounds exactly like a regular gun shot but somewhat less loud. It's barely at a safe volume for human ears. Hollywood has been pedaling the "silencers make guns sound like a whisper" lie for years.

By the way, if you think the armor suit is sci-fi, there are a couple of companies out there that make jackets, backpacks etc like that. They aren't as slim or light, and won't stop anything bigger than a pistol, but they do stop it. The backpacks can be made for school kids, which given the uncertainty of our times is a good investment.

The two body shots and then a head shot is called the Mozambique Drill or failure drill or failure to stop drill. The headshot is to make sure the opponent is Dead. The original incident happened obviously in Mozambique. A Soldier was armed with a 9mm Browning High-power pistol when an enemy so;dier came around a corner with a AK-47 with a fixed bayonet. T soldier with the pistol fired two shots into the other soldiers chest and he did NOT go Down so almost by instinct he fire a third shot that hit his opponent in the head It was later added to american pistol training as the Failure to stop drill. In these movcies he has to make sure his opponents are dead so he automatically shoots them in the head.

A suppressor only reduces the decibels of a gunshot between 17-24 db when the unsuppressed shot is 140db for context a hairdryer averages 100db. and 70db is consided hearing safe.

Some Fun facts for ya. #1 Keanu and Common were in Street Kings. #2 There were deleted scenes from the movie one that involves a meeting with the Pope. Hence Julian's question, "Are you here to Kill the Pope?" It seems the Vatican is connected to their world. Stahleski(Director) had it cut because he felt it was going to deep to soon and cause possible controversy.

It always gnawed at me during the opening scene that once the Russian boss got the call from Wick, why didn't he just yell at all of his men that if they see a dude walk in and start driving away in one of the cars, to get the eff out of his way and make sure he has a clear driveway out of the warehouse and freaking bow to him while doing it. I mean, unless Wick intended to kill a bunch of them anyway for not returning his car to begin with.

His dialogue with his henchman at the beginning addressed that. Because John killed his nephew, he was obligated to try to take him out. (But ultimately we see that that obligation wasn't big enough to require him to give his own life, just those of his minions.)

John killing Santino was actually the smart play. Santino is taking over New York and he could do that all while sitting in the hotel. John could try to wait him out, but he doesn't have anywhere near the resources that a member of the High Table would have. When or if John is forced to leave the hotel, he would still have the contract of $7 million on his head, so he would be running either way. And by that time Santino would've taken New York. His only play to end the takeover and the war in the city is to take Santino out, with the added bonus that he gets his revenge. The only difference is now John has no place to hide, while he tries to live.

For a suppressor to be that quiet the cartridge has to have a muzzle velocity of less than the speed of sound about 1100 Feet per second. if you can get the muzzle velocity less than that it would almost be that quiet. Hollywood makes it quieter than it actually can be.

Obviously it was before your time, but I first saw Keanu Reeves in "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" so to see him all these years later as a badass action hero is still somewhat mind blowing to me! And yes, I did watch the Matrix movies, but John Wick would whup Neo's ass. lol (you should watch "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" and "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey" if you haven't already seen them)
