Babay or Babai (Russian: Бабай) is a night spirit (Bogeyman) in Slavic folklore. According to beliefs, he abducts children who do not sleep at night or behave badly.[1] He is also called Babayka (Russian: Бабайка), Babayko (Ukrainian: Бабайко) or Bobo (Babok, Bebok) (Polish), although the term may also be applied to his female equivalent.[2]

Yeah but half the reason the first movie was as successful as it was, was because of the accuracy and realism of it. People were freaking out about the reloading, bullet counting, actual hand to hand combat, etc. They tried to one up all of that in this one (which I agree with you, the action is top tier) but they loose a lot of the small details/magic that the first one had. Also the story in the first one is so easy for almost anyone to relate to. This one's story doesnt really touch your heart or make you emotional. While i personally really like this movie, from a movie reviewers perspective this one does pale a LOT in comparison to the original.

The world building in this series is truly admirable. The team managed to introduce a character and his mysterious background with minimal dialogue, but with such confidence that the audience immediately understood the world of John Wick was a fabricated society. Great lore, societal hierarchy, and with heart! I don't think the movies would be as successful if Keanu wasn't the star.

It’s so sad that Kristen missed the depth of this movie I understand it can be easy for people to miss but there is so much underlying story in these movies and it goes over peoples heads a lot. The John Wick franchise is the perfect example of show me don’t tell me and people ask for that all the time but the second they’re not told people tend to miss the fine details then say the story was bad it’s so unfortunate, but I respect the opinion. It’s just that what you want is there and you failed to pick up on it. Also Michael a 1911 does hold 7 rounds if it’s in 45 ACP which they stated it was, a benelli M4 is a semi automatic shotgun not a pump action, and for God sakes man lol Baba Yaga is also known as the boogeyman. Babayka from Slavic origin down the road turned into the Russian translation of babayaga and babayka is the boogeyman. Lastly to be clear the boogeyman is referred to as many mythical creatures because the boogeyman is just a monster than comes and takes people away in the night it is not a specific creature itself. I just want to be clear on this. I’m not pressed about how Kristen or Michael feel about the movie that’s completely within their right and also it’s a first watch and an instant review sometimes those can be hard to do if you missed things so no judgement on my part I just wanted to clarify some things.

"Lacked storyline" I believe was an early response. Not giving yourself time to digest what you saw. First off, the original was meant to be a stand alone project. The concept of sequels was not considered until they saw the response to the first movie. They wrapped up a loose end from the first movie, and then quickly shuffled into a new plot line. The introduction of the Italian sect of this underworld brought with it a new facet of this underworld. The Marker, which brought the introduction of the High Table. We learn that John owes dues from hus past and must kill a " Friend against his will. One thing you missed from the museum that Samtono was in. There was a display of 12 marble statues (6 lined up on either side of the soom) watching 2 statues fight in the middle of the room. Symbolic of the 12 seats at the high table. John then travels to Rome. Has an incredibly stylish montage of his dealings at the Continental. Then it's off to perform the hit. You are introduced to and filled in quickly of the significance of the "target". She is ruthless and powerful, yet sophisticated and feminine. I like to believe that bit of conversation before she passes about damnation... she said she feared damnation. I believe John shot her to save her soul. She's Italian. Obviously catholic. If she had died by her own hand, she'd be damned. And this is just half the movie. You still have the Santino double cross. The Cassian arc of a story. The Bowry King. Not to mention all the memorable action. The pencil. The Sumo guy. The violinist who shot him twice point blank range. The absolute devastating castration at the train station. The dog. The BALLER FLEX by Winston stopping 200 people to focus on John. I hope in reflection that you will see you actually liked the movie a lot. Yes, I saw you bored during some of the extended action scenes, but you, much like John, have to endure the trip to get to the meat and potatos of what's going on.

Two of the moves she's enjoyed the least are the best movies, Logan and Deadpool. The Logan reaction in particular is odd, because it's clearly not what she wanted from an X-Men movie, and that's why she was cool to it even when acknowledging it's strengths. She wanted some sort of storyline she's describing here, while ignoring the world building that takes place in this movie, and this movie's emphasis on comedy. The comedy establishes the tone of this movie. There are emotional elements motivating the characters, but we're here for a good time. If martial arts and "gun fu" isn't your thing, that's cool. But do not hold action moives outside of your lane to standards you don't hold things like Armageddon to.

Christina liked the entire movie. She had her mouth open, freaking out the entire time, saying this was crazy and that was crazy. This was awesome, that was awesome. She praised every fight scene when it occurred. She genuinely flipped out when the sister offed herself and didn't see that coming. She enjoyed the banter between Common and Keanu. She called out loud how she really liked the rules of the Continental. She thought the scene when all the assassins were coming after Keanu was cool. Basically, Chris likes the entire film from front to back and laughs at every part of the film she was supposed to. It's like seeing someone laughing at a comedy show the entire show, then at the end saying, "Nah, I didn't like it." Or eating an entire dinner, cleaning the plate, and then asking for your money back because it wasn't cooked "right" or "you didn't like it." Girl, your body language and face give it away the whole time and it is quite alright to simply like something. LOL.

@@JayTheDodo To be fair, I didn't mention all her other reactions, in which she changes her mind in real time to match others' opinions. I am speaking of a greater, inauthentic reaction history. Also, perhaps she did and is simply inauthentic based on her grander catalog. Seems both could be true. I am not saying you are wrong. Just my statement is just as probable, maybe even more so, based on her larger body of work.

Wow I thought I was the only one who picked up on that! And even in the first movie, she sooo identified with John Wick's character. She claimed she too was heavily trained in martial arts, as a kid she fought for noble causes like defending others against bullies, and she lived by a strict code of ethics (never bullied anyone, never striking anyone until they struck her three times). Yeah, to be so engaged only to bash the movie at the end screamed inauthenticity.

John killing Santino in The Continental was really his only choice. Santino was taking over New York, he could've very well taken over The Continental as well and had John's membership revoked anyway. Killing Santino stopped the New York takeover, John got his revenge, he kept his end of the deal that he made with Laurence Fishburn's character to end the war before it affected his people and the only thing that it changed for John was that he doesn't have a sanctuary anymore. Because if Santino was still alive and John left the hotel Santino's $7 million was still on his head, so assassins are going to come after him anyway.

John Wick is a great movie. The following chapters are action movies. If you want it better write your own story. I would really love to see another take on the story and see what could be improved. Gun lovers and martial artist's love these movies in the way that the actors really put in the effort in the realism of the action. Example is how John Wick actually handles his firearms. Keanu actually trained with live firearms and is quite good at it.

The suits cost about $50,000 for one capable of stopping rifle rounds (Threat level IV). Trained soldiers or operatives would never attack in more than 5 together so you can't kill then all together in full auto fire or explosives. Professional killers usually work in 3 to 5 men teams even if you have 100s. If not one grenade would kill them all. John's riffle is capable of full auto but because they are small groups he has to fire in small burst of 1 to 3 shots to kill them and not run out of ammo. 77 kills on JW1, 128 kills in JW 2, 94 kills in JW 3 and, 140 kills in JW4 439 total all films.

This film was not hours of fluff at all because you get what u should all be already expecting which is action sequences amazing fight scenes, very important fundamental world building and set-up and a plot that needed to happen for u as the audience to get to the real plot of the story from John Wick 3 onwards.
