This video shows Johnny when he conducted his famous March for Superman. That´s probably about 30 years ago. He has written quite a few brilliant marches eighter for the movies or some other occasion. Ok, the Raiders March from Indiana Jones is my absolute favourite. But this one comes right after ;-) I love you John!

Maybe god is so merciful and forgiving that he actually goes against what the bible says and forgave christopher reeves for not commiting hurtful ctimes and being a good person. Maybe god does forgive all those souls who were actually wonderful human beings, their only sin is to not believe and god understands "how can you believe on something you cant see"..it wont be fair for real good people to suffer in hell with souls who were actually evil in life. My favorite motif from this theme is the "Can You Read My Mind" part, and as beautiful and as 1970s easy-listening that melody is, it's still, here in the main title, underscored by that exciting driving march rhythm: this isn't just going to be a date with Lois Lane, it's gonna be a FLYING date with Lois Lane. I was nine when this premiered, and I can tell you the opening credits had us pushed back in our seats before the story even started. I wonder what the younger generation thinks of this movie: it has a lot of heart, humor, great storytelling, and still packs a thrilling punch, for my money.

I remember Richard Donner discuss the first time he heard the theme being recorded in the studio. He screwed up the first taping because he was screaming, "Genius, genius" like a madman! 😁

The idea that he took the basic motifs from the earlier Superman themes (Max Fleisher cartoons, TV show) and wove them into the main theme for this piece is both utterly brilliant and respectful to the people who wrote those earlier themes, as well as drawing in fans of those earlier shows. Bravo, Mr. Williams.

John's best work! This theme is so magical, so divine, it's hard to believe this sound is coming from just earthly instruments. The applause at the end doesn't seem suitable, the audience should be too blown away to clap and should sit in stunned awe at what just happened!

This is most assuredly the best version of the Superman movie march theme...even better than other performances by John Williams himself of this piece. Bravo to the members of the orchestra too! The entire performance won't let you catch your breath. It moves with urgency, power, and fulfillment.

Vidar Landvik we probably could but all of us are couch potatoes... well not all of us but a lot of people someone was probably sitting on a couch paying around with a flip phone when they realized they could invent an iphone or computer anyway after 2000 and we have all this technology all people can do is sit around all day i'm sure if you work hard and study hard you can be just like him! he is definitely more talented than the average musician though.

Boy can he do it! Without John William's pure and powerful musical style, I don't think SUPERMAN or other films such as E.T., JAWS, and STAR WARS would of become as big as they have; even if they had good directors. Music plays a huge role in holding a movie together and John in my opinion is the king of movie music. God bless you John. You are a treasure.

This was the first big movie I saw as a boy. I had grown up reruns of the Superman TV series in the 50’s, as had most of us in the audience. This is the one and only time in my life that an audience in a movie theater, when hearing the introductory music, burst into applause. It was a moment that still brings tears to my eyes and which I will cherish as long as I live.
