I know it's off topic, but this video came out 5 days before my Dad's last Christmas. In April of 1982, he was saving up to buy a DMC-12 straight cash, working overtime as a bus driver. He was 75% of the way, when he was run over by a car which rendered him unable to work for 7 years. The 20k saved went to maintain the house and care for infant me. He loved De Lorean Motor Company ANYTHING (catalogues, etc...) He died 13 years ago as a result of his injuries. I miss him so much! Thanx for posting a De Lorean-positive video!!!! And a special thanx to those in the comment section!!! It's nice knowing he wasn't alone in Mr. De Lorean's defense, as it was often alienating for him.

@@georgehenderson7783 It could've handled like a Sherman tank, with a 4hp engine, and he still woulda been a proud DMC owner. He was all about how Mr. DeLorean gave everything he could beg, borrow, or steal to give the finger to the Big 3. The near success, and resulting failure of his Baby, only deepened his feelings about and for the man, his car, and his company that showed the world 2 warring factions could coexist in harmony (on the factory grounds at least) when long hoped-for economic solvency is at hand at last.

I read the book The Delorean Tapes by Ivan Fallon and in it they detailed that anyone who disagreed or questioned a decision of his was immediately fired. If true, I hate assholes like that who can't even listen to an alternative view. He never put or lost a penny from this project yet it cost the UK tax payer $8000 (1980) per car.

Luckily 40 years later low run dies and part runs are possible for DMC Houston. The parts cost more (specifically the left front fender), but they are available. The DMC was even built ahead of its time - the factory used the same method Tesla Motors does now. The cars were transported from station to station on a free moving self-propelled platform - decades before Tesla did the same thing. Reconfiguring the line is simple.

As a kid, my brother and I went to see a brand new Delorean (on our weekly boys nightout with our dad )at the local Ford Dealership which was selling them. build quality was horrific even compared to the EXP,Fairmonts, and F-150s on the dealer showroom, not to mention the Markup price Of $43,000.....Couple steps Over to the Chevy Dealership, one could purchase a Corvette for half that price.....even a mile away at the Mercedes Dealership, 300SD TurboDiesels could be had in he high 30s. The car was overpriced.....still in the days (even after Reagan took Office) from what Carter had done to the US economy. Delorean not controlling the Dealers greed is what kept Delorean from gaining any traction....not too mention, Delorean Motors had trouble paying their bills to most component suppliers, including to General Motors (Harrison Division) for the HVAC units installed on all Deloreans.

I work as an engineer for Disney, and barely a week goes by in our design process that people around me don't project, whether quietly or overtly, what Walt would have thought and done about something. So my question would be this: People will spend decades from now deliberating "What would John DeLorean have done..." about various things. It would be nice to be able to hear it from you-- what did you want from the car that you just couldn't get, what did you really love and were happy about, and where were you hoping to go in years of future production?

14:00 fed up hearing a bout Henry Ford's production line. The Venetian Arsenal, dating to about 1104, operated similar to a production line. Ships moved down a canal and were fitted by the various shops they passed. At the peak of its efficiency in the early 16th century, the Venetian Arsenal employed some 16,000 people who could apparently produce nearly one ship each day. Steam engines in England were also produced this way.

@@stallion6265 - yup - the reason they didn't even offer a witness in their defense was the pure fact that John never put in a single dime in the staged 'deal'. He went to LA to pick up the money in person to then put into the company. They then showed drugs purely for the camera. Worst sting ever. I mean literally your case in a typical sting-op is 'he's buying drugs - here's the drugs - he paid for them'. Instead he came to get money - after not agreeing to put a nickel into any 'drug deal'. I mean talk about a stupid setup.
