Thank you, John Anderson and Paul Kelly. Talk about crucial information given from both the top down and bottom up. And sideways. Both of you have created an atmosphere we can understand. It provides clarity of thought on many of the major issues confronting us in Australia and overseas.

What a great educator is Paul Kelly! Listening to him makes me aware of how little I know. It seems that Political Science is stuck way back in the dim past. A lot has happened since then.

With reference to your reply to Stewatpark Park below. @MrOrcstone I agree entirely, I now understand your reply. I would go even a step further. The toxic left now controls the parliament, the government and all publicly funded agencies. The Family Court and the ABC are but two among thousands.

Amen to the concluding remarks from both gentlemen. If going forward Australia could produce, wholesale, citizens of the calibre of Paul Kelly and John Anderson we would indeed be blessed.

The Bourkean tradition isn't entirely distinct from natural law based liberalism. It is conservative of the ancient liberties of freeborn Englishmen (or their descendents and their countrymen in places like Australia.) I'd put Turnbull on the progressive side of politics, or - at best - within the utilitiarian liberal tradition, which differs in emphasis quite substantially from the liberalism of Locke or the Scottish Enlightenment and constitutes a fairly large swathe of the political Left.

Turnbull is definitely a Leftist - he gave an interview to Juice Media for christ's sake!

In 1975 Australians were given a choice, an election was called and the people voted, the rest is history, democracy prevailed.

People were upset in 1975 but no one was being locked in their homes with their livelihoods being destroyed for very little reason in 1975. In 1975 the country did not have 33% of the population from the third world.

10 months on, and only 46 comments (on youtube at least - I would hope more elsewhere perhaps). Thanks for the chat gentlemen: I'm from the Other Side (conflicted Greenie). I wonder: given the matra of "following the science" as a guide through and out of the COVID-19 double-pandemic, will the Morrison government be so trusting of science in their post COVID political strategies as climate change returns to centre-stage, (as I assume it will)?

Paul Kelly says that the ALP are becoming more progressive. They have indeed split off from their traditional working class base. The recent fracas around Joel Fitzgibbon shows that. There is a natural toggle these days between being progressive and a workers' party. The more of one, the less of the other.

Can we have cheap energy without coal. Well solar is cheaper than coal today so unless the sun is going away I'd say the answer is yes.

I don't want government to fix my life. I want government to get the hell out of my life. I'm hoping there will be a big swing towards a libertarian direction as both left and right are growing bigger in our lives, and they do a shitty job of 'helping us'. Government is a bloated parasitic organism on the private sector.

To say global warming is a moral issue is absurd. It doesn’t take an hour of digging looking into both sides to realize that this debate is far from being settled. We have gone from 3 billion people to 8 billion people in the past 60 years due to the industrialization and availability of energy. 10 million people a year starve to death according to the UN. That’s the moral issue. These people cook with firewood for Pete’s sake. Try breathing that in for 50 years. We can practically breath right out our exhaust pipes but that’s not enough for these people. They want to crush the economy and starve many millions more instead.

@@SirPrancelot1 Thank you for the heads up. I saw it about three hours after it came out. I was riveted. Excellent Report - Journalism ... tick. The way I see it is sort of like this: In the 2020 US election, it certainly appears true in the objective sense that many individuals have grouped together in a big huddle. They brainstormed the central theme of "how can we win the election"? There was a wide mixture of people in the group. It was very sharp at the top. Some of the top pilots, the group's leaders, are shown as god-like leaders all with their followers and thinkers and doers. Preliminary brainstorming ideas led to the conclusion {consensus} they could influence the masses and spend a lot of money in promotions, win the election, install their primary actor, and then take over the country. Do you think I'm off track here? Anyway, please indulge my rant. Several of the conclusions, including the primary conclusion - that they could legally take out a sitting President by "activating" their voter group and having a public vote - reached in the Preliminary brainstorming ideas, were reviewed. The result of the Secondary brainstorming session came to the conclusion {consensus} that even though they will spend a lot of money in promotions, they could not influence enough of the masses to vote for them for their master plan to succeed. Heads scratched and they realised they will likely not win the election. And, they won't be able to install and inject their actors in the picture that is on this part of the great stage of life. They got worried. They ran the numbers - again. Looks better. On the surface its a 50/50 bet. The odds on winning or losing is a zero sum game. They started to scratch their heads. They worked out a plan to improve the odds in their favor. Time to spice things up and push the 50/50 ratio to 60/40 in favor of installing a new puppet as US President. Someone in the brainstorming group mentioned the words: "we must win at all costs". Someone else called loudly: "what ever it takes". Others spoke: "the ends justifying the means". Others chanted: "its all about survival of the fittest". Some even called for: "the ends justifies the means". We "must" win, became the core "slogan". Many in the audience shook their heads and scratched their heads - while looking for a moment of peace from the rhetoric barrage. But they held on. Next came the master plan. The essence of the plan was to win at all costs. The stakes were high. Very high. To win at all costs, it means, in my mind, nothing is out-of-bounds. Morality, ethics, ... compassion ... patience ... mostly gone. Poof. Maybe with a puff of smoke! The magic wand came out again. Fancy that. The magic wand waved once more. And out pops a real lively genie. Maybe it popped out from the toaster on the bench. Maybe, even, from the kitchen sink or your toilet. OK. Maybe not emerging from the toilet. Most genies are portrayed as clean and smelling good. In the movies they are usually well dressed and they wear lots of bling. Genies can't get that stuff dirty or tarnished. The chief pilot, of what is now a the Tertiary brainstorming group, asks the genie if it can grant a wish. The genie replies with: "Yes. I can only grant one wish". The chief pilot makes the wish that they will be successful in the election and oust a sitting President. The genie frowns and scratches his head. Then laughs. And grants the wish. The chief pilot reports back to the group. Many in the group believe the chief pilot's newfound motivation. Many do not. Time for an insurance plan A rescue for the doubtful and non-believers. The core plan now becomes a reinforcement. "Win at any cost" with help from the genie, maybe. The chief pilot and the group of semi-chief pilots have a meeting. Its decided they will gather the forces but not fully trust the genie. Because the essence, and mantra, is "win at all costs". Now, nefarious and pernicious thoughts rule the minds of the chief pilot and the in--training chief pilots. To improve the odds of winning, all moral and ethical boundaries evaporate. The end justifies the means, and corruption abounds. What's happening before our eyes is not only a coup to steal an election. Its an attempt to blindside and divide people's views, and coral people through corrupt means and nefarious practices. President Trump does not appear to play that evil game. Sometimes people see him as stupid. Especially on the tweets. It is surprising though, how few have a sense of humor or a sense of reality at this time. However, no one is perfect. The best hope for freedom and the true advancement for humanity is that President Trump is re-elected. After that is 2024 ...
