@michaelflorant8641, I have personally known John since he was 11 or 12. My daughter is his age. I homeschooled my daughter, and we were in the same homeschooling group here in our little area of Georgia. When John and my daughter were about 12, we started a Homeschoolers Tennis Association. John and my daughter played tennis together. My daughter, and John both have gone through some very rough times yet each one of them are doing sooo well today in their lives. I thank and praise God for that. I get tickled with watching John on stage. He STILL has some of the same non-verbal body language mannerisms I saw in him when he was a kid. What's really funny for me is whenever he talks about his Mom. I STILL get to see John's parents every so often. Anne is a lovely petite lady, a bit shorter than me. Our grown children are much taller. Personally knowing the family for 3+decades makes John's "family" jokes even funnier for me. Who knew way back in the day that John would grow up to be this amazing Commedian?! We love him.

@@bonzupippinpaddleoxacoppil484 If by “sex offender”, you mean “committing adultery”, you’re right. He was definitely in a bad place and had addictions that got worse and worse until it all exploded in early November of 2019. After he was accused he spent a couple of years in rehab working on himself and started fixing a lot of broken things in his life. He eventually came out of this stronger and acknowledged what he did was hypocritical to his faith and how he sinned greatly against the Lord, how it was utterly and completely wrong and that there was no one to blame but himself for his actions. He’s said in recent interviews (about 2020, search “John Crist controversy” and look for an article that says “John Crist is back” something like that) that although he can’t make up for what he’s done, he can own what he did and emerge from it stronger. Stand-up comedy is one of my favorite things in this world. To realize there is such an amazing talent who is religious on that level was so foreign to me, I was blown-away by how funny he was. My relationship didn't end up working out but I left it with a revitalized faith in our Lord and a new comedian to look forward to being entertained by. I'd call that a win because look who came through for me all this time later. Made me, a 36 year old man, laugh out loud, by myself, like I'm having the time of my life. In regards to spanking. My pastors grandson has never been spanked. He's the only child who can calmly verbalize his emotions and come up with coping mechanisms on his own to deal with his negative emotions. He's six. Most respectful, well behaved kid I've ever had in my nursery. If you do it right, it works. The problem is that these parents think that gentle parenting is giving your kid whatever they want, letting them do whatever they want, and not doing any work to raise them into decent people.

You have a point. I’ve worked with kids for most of my adult life, and I have only once wanted to hit one (it involved him causing me a fair bit of pain and I was 18). I’ve got a little boy at church (he’s 4) whose parents never tell him no. He whines when he doesn’t get his way. He thought he was an unstoppable force. Then he met me. Whining goes in one ear and out the other. I have found that when I set the boundaries and calmly enforce them, things work better. Also, saying no does not mean no forever. An example is that this kid wanted to be the line leader, but we had one already, so I told him no. He accepted it and then asked if he could be next. I said yes, and then came the important part, I let him have his turn. I’m getting results his parents aren’t. It is my OPINION that what is called gentle parenting is stupid. Kids need boundaries, and they are not my peers. The way I joke about it, is that these kids know I’m the adult, but that they’re in charge. When they want to be close to me, my legs might belong to me, but my lap belongs to them. My father was rather violent, which definitely had an impact on my opinion, but I don’t think there is a reason to beat a child. Spanking is ok on occasion, but if the parent is doing it when they are angry, the chances of abuse go way, way up.

Funny stuff! Your comedic timing is spot on. You ask questions of the audience and always make it into a very funny addition to the shows. That takes skill.

As someone who lived in Oregon near Portland, John is 100% correct.

We need a compilation of the endings with Caleb. The way you two riff off each other brings tears from too hard of laughter.
