DIRECTOR JOHN EDGINTON captures singer-songwriter ROBYN HITCHCOCK at his brilliant best in this concert documentary.
In the winter of 2008, Hitchcock travelled with his band by train to New York to resurrect live in concert his 1984 album 'I Often Dream of Trains' , which has grown into a cult classic.
Hitchcock punctuates his witty dark songs with often hilarious, stream-of-consciousness riffs between numbers.

TERRY EDWARDS - Piano, Trumpet, Guitar, back-up Vocals
TIM KEEGAN - Guitar, back-up Vocals
GAIDA HINNAWI - Vocals
AMIR EL SAFFAR - Trumpet
Director of Photography : BESTOR CRAM
Editor : ROWAN BAYLIS
Post Prod Sound: CHARLIE FRANCIS
EXEC PRODUCER : LYNNE KIRBY
DIRECTED AND PRODUCED BY JOHN EDGINTON.
Produced by Otmoor Productions in association with Yeproc Records and the Sundance Channel.

I'm back in 1984 and falling in love with "I Often Dream of Trains" all over again! Thanks for posting this concert film. Robyn is one of my all-time favorite singer/songwriters.

This is even better than Storefront Hitchcock. The way Flavour of Night is captured so perfectly here in every sense keeps pulling me back.

Best recovery ever! "Illusions of Love". Made it part of the performance. Robyn Hitchcock has made laugh, cry, and rock out for years. Only saw him once - at Village Underground in London 2013. A celebration of love for his 60th Birthday with special guests like Green Gartside and Adam Buxton. I will treasure that memory forever. Wonderfully captured, John Edginton.

Just discovered this artist... and I am in my mid 60's. He's been around for many years, but this is all new to me. His witticisms and his music are entertaining, thought provoking. This guy is deep AND funny!

Congratulations......so many good songs. Many great ones and the Masterpieces! Nobody can sing his songs like he does. Composer extraordinaire. We are lucky to get close to this Legend. Robyn in small venues! Life really isn't fair.

"Nocturne" is a dark autumn song if there ever was one. But we live through it, and seasons change.

Wow, Keegan an Edwards are fantastic backing Robyn on "Sounds Great When You're Dead." (All around, too, but that song sounded so like the album.)

Fantastic film and music. My first experience of Robyn was seeing him live at a small venue near kings cross station about 15 years or so ago. Peter Buck was with the band too that night. I didn’t know the songs but his performance was spell binding. I’ve loved exploring his music since then 😃

Oh this is just wonderful. I saw him with the Egyptians in Detroit back around 1987 or so. His wit and whimsy is so enthralling. Going to see him again (solo, acoustic) next week. 35 years later.

Robyn had to go move to the US around about the time I moved to Europe, so I haven't seen him since 1991.

Crikey! What was the typeface? John - do you have an inkling? It's more years ago than I like to remember! We used classics like Gill Sans a fair bit... but, short of sitting down at our old Avid system again and seeing what was available, I wouldn't like to hazard a guess. All the best, Rowan

Yay, I get to help!!! $50 USD says it was P22 Underground: www.fontspring.com/fonts/p22/p22-underground -- as @rowbags said, Gill Sans was a favorite of the time, and it's quite similar, but the 'i' and 'e' really gave it away for me. Quite functional; I really liked P22 Foundry's work back in the day.
