God bless Robyn Hitchcock. Dude's guitar playing remains VERY underrated.

Seriously though, its mind-boggling how he can turn these songs into a single acoustic accompaniment and still do them justice seemingly with such ease. Watching this clip on BBC over twenty years ago (god help me I'm ready for my grave) was what made me a Syd fan and a Robyn Hitchcock fan. Its exactly the way I wish I could play.

@@dominiccrocker2155 I just saw him solo acoustic in Philly and though I've seen him many times before, honestly my fret hand hurt just watching him. Feel like I actually fought off a few cramps just sitting and watching.

Love this version of Dominoes. Robyn's a great ambassador for the legend Syd Barrett. "You're a Gigolo Aunt" Gave name to the American band who sang 'Where I find my heaven' good track at the end of the film Dumb and Dumber. Syd Barrett for ever. 🚲🐀🍎🍊🎸

I've never read anything about Robyn Hitchcock but I could *always* hear an echo of Syd coming from his music. Love this.

I love seeing Robyn speaking so honestly and frankly about Syd. Robyn is usually guarded and spins off into his random dialogue.

It seems apparent, even just from Syd's own descriptions in his lyrics, that he was going thru a social breakdown as his relationships with the band & the music industry turned to dust. A mental breakdown too, possibly--eventually--tho the depth & breadth of that are more difficult to discern. But when I read his lyrics, I don't see an artistic breakdown. The lyrics from 'Barrett' still shimmer & dance. They're so beautiful & imagistic they still call to young artists 50 years later. This idea that he became vacant behind the eyes--already gone, due to drugs or mental illness--makes no sense when you read the remarkable lyrics he was writing.

Everything I've read about Syd's solo albums is that the songs had all been written before his 'breakdown/illness' in 1967. I seem to remember Dave Gilmore confirming they were older songs of Syd's and Wikipedia says similar. I've never heard evidence of Syd writing new songs after 1967. But I could be wrong.

Robyn Hitchcock is a true Syd Barrett fan. He has kept the flame for Syd which is a lot more than you and a lot of people have done. He's also an artist in his own right. Thank You Robyn. "Life become's of no harm"

@@hanskloss1331 Well said. He's a great songwriter and performer. I don't understand the ignorance of this post from someone who obviously knows nothing about Robyn's work or his love for Syd. Take Care friend.
