Wow, until earlier tonight this was a forgotten Farnham classic that I had not heard in years . However, strangely I saw some of an old rerun of the Front Line TV series from the 1990s on the ABC tonight and the chorus of this song jumped out at me as it played in part of the show. I was immediately gone. Mentally transported back to the time of the song and of a more simple life. The song is so melancholic and makes me a sad, but I couldn't help listening to it because it is so beautiful. It may well be the most underrated Farnham song of all.

I can’t believe there are only 46 commentators. This is easily his best song. I sang this to my new born who was only 4 months old at the time. Such an emotive song!

His music brings back so many memories from when I was a child. Amazing memories! I have recently turned 21 and John's music has also resurfaced for me and just really brought everything to the forefront. A wonderful song which I remember from earlier years. It happened then, on 8th July 2017, definitely not having the time of my life, that this song got into my mind. I have heard it on KZbin a couple of times, with and without lyrics. "A simple life" still captures me, a great song! With this year the 8th July being a saturday, I though of listening to it again; once with watching the video, and once with following the lyrics. Luckily, my own times have changed to so much the better, but my sheer appreciation for this song remains.

Tuesday 5 september 2023. I live in the UK. Was busy bringing up my children in the 80s, totally missed 80s music, have been playing catch up these last couple of months.
