I went to a CCR tribute band show last year at one of those local clubs for old people. Decided to go with my brother, cousin and a couple of mates and make a night of it. All in our mid 20's, we were easily the youngest ones there by a long shot; had an awesome night, good memories were made. However, my highlight of the night was seeing close to 100 people well into their 80's and 90's getting up, dancing and enjoying their night like they were young again.

@@robertobeco1302 Absolutely... But I reckon every generation pretty much says the same thing. And their right. As the world continues to get worse every year, each generation looks back on their time, on their memories of youth and recall how much better things were back when.. For those of us for example who were kids in the sixties and early seventies, we remember the great TV shows, all the incredible toys. Halloween and Christmas were amazing and wonderful times. But our parents remember the Cuban missile crisis, the assassination of JFK, MLK, the Vietnam War, the Draft, and all those boys who never came home... So I reckon it's how we perceive things. For me personally, even with all the bad, those were amazing times. And the music was absolutely a huge part of it all. And no doubt helped to shape the entire generation...

Well from what I know he has a bit of an ego and that caused his brother to quit the band and eventually caused the remaining three members to have a terrible breakup and refuse to work together ever again. He got into many arguments with the other members and was very controlling. For example woodstock he refused to let them put their set in the film because he thought their performance was subpar. This upset Stu Cook the bassist and that is just one example. John also refused to play with the band when they were inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. He is a talented prick.
@forkymental5154
@forkymental5154 4 жыл бұрын
@@quickpawmaud That's not exactly true: ultimateclassicrock.com/creedence-clearwater-revival-break-up/. Without John Fogerty that band would've went nowhere. He was the band, the others were just there. He sang lead, played lead guitar, and he was the songwriter. He wasn't stupid. He knew that it had to stay that way for the band to remain successful. From the article: Lead singer, principal songwriter, guitarist and frontman John Fogerty had always played a dominant role in the group, and as time went on his bandmates - brother and guitarist Tom Fogerty, drummer Doug "Cosmo" Clifford and bassist Stu Cook - pushed for more of a voice in the band's music and business decisions. Tom Fogerty finally departed the band in 1971, and for the group's next album, John Fogerty told his remaining bandmates that if they wanted more input, then each member would contribute their own songs, on which he would only play rhythm guitar. The result was Mardi Gras, released in 1972 to a resounding critical drubbing. Rolling Stone critic Jon Landau called it "the worst album I have ever heard from a major rock band," and though the album was still relatively commercially successful, it did not sell as well as previous efforts. Fogerty had also become involved in a series of disputes with CCR's record label, Fantasy Records, over what he thought were unfair contracts, and on Oct. 16, 1972 the group announced their breakup. The other members also left him alone in the fight against that record label, which caused him a lot of trouble while starting his solo career. That's the reason he refused to play with them at the Hall of Fame ceremony, and I can't blaming him for choosing not to. So that's the reason why the others have pretty much been a CCR tribute band over the last 35 to 40 years, and why Fogerty went on to have a successful solo career. He gave them a chance to contribute their own music, and that music wasn't up to snuff. That's the same sort of thing that happened with The Eagles back when they first broke up as well.

Forky Mental, John might have been the brains of the band, but without them he would be nothing. The only reason anyone in the audience gave a shit about him playing solo is because they remember growing up with CCR. If he was still a washed up musician, playing in bars, having never played with CCR no one would give a shit about him even if he was playing the same memorable songs.
@forkymental5154
@forkymental5154 4 жыл бұрын
@@tonyhinojosa7710 It was the name of the band that mattered. If John could have fired all of the bands original members and hire new ones, then things wouldn't have changed. Nobody would've noticed. He wasn't able to keep the name because of the legal battle with his record company. Plus he was pissed. I would've been too.

Hey John Fogerty, when I was a little boy, around the age of 12 or 13, I went over to my friend's house and heard creedence clearwater revival band for the first time. Immediately it happened to me and this music has not let go of me ever since. In 2011 I drove an old bike and a trailer over 7000 km from Vancouver to Alaska and back again. I wanted to find peace with my late father and dedicated this tour to him. What do you think, John Fogerty, what kind of music was I going through my senses on the endless highways ?! Yes sir; Have You Ever Seen The Rain, Someday Never Comes, Lodi and many more of your songs have been a constant companion on my tour to Alaska. When I was driving over the Stewart Cassiar Highway at night because I really wanted to reach the Kinaskan Lake campground, a big grizzly bear suddenly lay 10 meters next to me in the grass and looked after me with interest ... at that moment I was mine Heart slipped in the pants. You can imagine that! I just looked ahead to get ahead and when I finally reached the lake on this full moon night your song came to my mind; long as i can see the light. Please excuse my limited knowledge of english. John Fogerty, I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and best regards from Germany! Klaus Lüttgen rocktheroads.de

We were ready to rock out and we waited and waited and finally it was our turn ... there were a half million people asleep. These people were out. It was sort of like a painting of a Dante scene, just bodies from hell, all intertwined and asleep, covered with mud. And this is the moment I will never forget as long as I live: A quarter mile away in the darkness, on the other edge of this bowl, there was some guy flicking his Bic, and in the night I hear, "Don't worry about it, John. We're with you." I played the rest of the show for that guy. -John Fog recalling Creedence Clearwater Revival's 3:30 a.m. start time at Woodstock
