PT student here, I’ve had so much respect and admiration for DOs because of your content. Such a wealth of expertise and I have yet to ever hear you mention anything that goes against what’s taught in my PT curriculum. Thanks Dr. Gibbons!

A student here! Thank you so much for these videos! Soo. I was addicted to gaming for like four years. The sitting position caused many deformation/disorders in my body! There is a curvature in my spine, and my hips are misaligned which caused the internal rotation of my lower legs.. the misalignment of my hips also caused the pronation in my feet. I believe my pelvis shifts forward which leads to the internal rotation of the femur.. The shape of my legs is XO, also called "false curvature or fake bow legs". It is not a congenital disease, it's acquired. Doctor, I believe this visual curvature is created in the absence of deformation of the bones. The soft tissues are distributed ugly. I hope you reply to my comment, looking for your advice!

I’m impressed about the light pressure you put on it. I’ve had a bad habit of putting a deep pressure. Do you usually keep the same pressure until the end? Or is that ok to increase the pressure gradually?

I do increase the pressure when I feel it is needed, regards JG

Hi Gibbons! First of all, I want to thank you for these didactic videos. I have a question for you regarding sof tissue technique during isometric contraction of the hamstrings. To what extend efficient to glide hamstrings during isometric contraction? When we glide the hand through the hamstrings, it gives soothing effect but in the contracted muscle group. Could you please enlight me? Thanks in advance :) Emre
@JohnGibbons11 ай бұрын
Hi - thanks for the message and comments - I dont actually treat using an isometric contraction as that is done as part of a MET technique as induces a relaxation into the muscles prior to the massage and the actual technique is gliding through the tissues whilst the patient is performing an isotonic eccentric motion - regards JG

why do you ask the patient to take a breath as you conduct the technique? is it more for synchronicity? or does it involve respiration as a part of a sort of 'chemical therapy' component?
@JohnGibbons3 жыл бұрын
I find it more relaxing for the patient and the therapist if they breathe in and then out on the treatment technique, regards JG

Thanks for this video John. Have you ever worked with someone with a 'snapping biceps femoris', i.e. where the bicep femoris will snap over the fibular head during flexion? Any tips or advice on handling this?

Any issues with the direction of how you massage with a patient recovering from hamstring strain or patientS with DVT - i.e. applying pressure away from the natural flow of blood back to the heart? Probably old skool line of thought, but have experienced conflicting suggestions that you should massage in the direction towards the heart..

Could you release the tightness from a standing position, where the patient moves standing to fwd flexion? And once a hamstring is pulled is the long lasting pain due to an over production of Acetylcholine?
