No idea why I just thought to search KZbin for Subbuteo Cricket. Still got mine, not played for 50 years. Must make a suitable table for the outbuilding. Hope the eyes are still up to it. Love the bat size idea.

Why would anyone play GTA or FIFA when they could be playing this?

How much is it?

You aint got the bails on top of the stumps. To put them on was the most difficult part of the game.

True .... biggest balls ache ever having to position them only for them to fall off every time the ball hits the green base. Anyway .....we have VAR

Especially when you've cut them in half to represent real bails!

Where can I get a bat like that ?
@johngw13 жыл бұрын
bit of lead tape will do it. We made a larger bat and rated all players by batting and bowling out of 5. Top batsmen, and when a batsman's rating is higher than the bowlers, they used the larger bat. Use anything you like, bit of lead tape for weight and width, a few layers of regular tape, or just cut one out of any piece of wood

What bat are you using as it’s not a subbuteo bat thanks

Hi. We made different bats for a handicapped system of play. So, we rated all batsmen and bowlers out of 5 and had an alternating selection picking teams from a pool of world best players. Then a simple grid meant that the bat used was dependent on the batsman rating versus the bowler as well as some things like power hitters and specialist openers. We had a couple of normal bats that we simply added some weight and width to so they were easier to score with and beter for defending the stumps. So specialist openers also got to use it. I think one we did the same with but cut it down so it was a sloggers bat, plenty of power but not as good for defence. We also had a normal bat plus a tail enders’ one but I can’t remember what that was made of, some sort of mini brush i think.

Thanks for speedy reply. Have you made any other adaptions to the game? Great idea about the bats is it possible to post a video on how you made them please? Thanks

ADAM DOUGLAS sorry missed that. So, my brother made them but he just used some thin plastic covered metal strips amd glued them. I think the last one is actually a disposable tooth flossing thing!! For rules, we allocated players apporpriate skill scores before a draft round. So, each had scores out of 5 for batting and bowling and fielding. For batters vs bowlers we had a grid system to show what bat should be used depending on how good they were versus the bolwer. But we also had specialist openers and big hitters. Whatever the bowler the opener still got to use the biggest bat and couldnt be out caught behind in the first 3 overs off the green base. So it had to be a genuine edge. That allowed for specialists to be better at leaving the ball early on. The big hitters got to use a bigger bat in later overs even if the bowler was better. So if you played it right you could always preserve someone having the best bat and the bowling side had to think about who to bowl their best bowlers against, But one of the best rule changes was for fielders. You can see that some of them have extended bases. We had some rules that allowed for better fielders on the boundary to have wide plastic wings to block boundaries, but I think a maximum of 3. The one you can see in close was a 5 star rated fielder. The rule for him was that he could field in close and have the wider base for stopping and catching. We did similar for specialist slip fielders too. But for the best fielders we added little sticky tabs to their wings so catches tended to stick more easily. You can see that on the one at cover with the little sticky circles on the sides. So regular bases were used for non specialist slips and normal fielders. Basically we just thought up a few things about the game that weren’t realistic and changed them around. And all of those rules made the draft section more interesting as you needed to make sure you got the right mix of skills including fielding, opening, slogging etc

Oh just to be clear ... the bigger bats are basic bats with bits added
