Neil Pasken (Pask Makes - / paskmakes ) challenged me to do my take on his very popular small parts organizer. His has swing out drawers that rotate on a pivot and are triangular, while mine also has the same kind of drawers but they are rectangular and "butterfly" open. His is free standing while mine is designed to be mounted on a wall or the side of a cabinet, or sit on a shelf.
A fun project and actually very practical - these drawers will hold a lot of small parts and fasteners and operate smoothly. You can upsize it as well or make the drawers shorter which makes the cabinet narrower. I used maple and walnut but this can be made with any type of wood, even softwood.

This would make a good jewelry box if slightly squarer, maybe a washer would stop the drawer pull out? You could use brass pins instead of screws. I really like this design, thanks for sharing.

What a lovely organizer. Just wondering if a tight friction fit would be sufficient to hold the dowels in place, avoiding the visible screws heads, but still allowing for it to be taken apart again.

Another beautiful project using different woods. I do like how you only use the dividers between each set. As you said in another video, perhaps thin dividers between each might help but it might be too much. Sketchup might help determine. Anyway, I was thinking small magnets at the back of each drawer to keep them in place. And to keep them shut should someone tilt too much while moving it elsewhere. I think we've all ended up with a parts bin or two spilling on the floor. Great project, thank you.

Beautiful and awesome small parts boxes John. You could take and cut small plastic washers out of a old 1/2 gal milk bottle (after drinking the milk that is.) so the drawers can slide on them when opening the drawers. No more pressure that they will have they should last for a long time. Besides you can replace them as you made the pivot pin so you could remove it... :-) Thanks John! LLAP

Very nice project, John. Maybe a way to open the drawer one at a time without having to hold the others, could be to add a small magnet on the back panel inner side that match to a small metal insert on the drawer. In this way the magnet should help keep them shut and allowing to open them one by one.
