It feels like there was an election we were unaware of that placed Sankey, SEC, Pettiti, B10, ESPN, and FOX as the rulers of the entirety of collegiate athletics, university stability, and community health. Greed and short-sidedness should not win. Please, all non-SEC/B10 conferences, break away first, create a CAA (Collegiate Athletic Association) and create sensible and reasonable rules. Regional conferences in all sports, 16 team football playoff with participants based on merit regardless of conference, 64 team BB tournament, etc. I would bet that this CAA setup would rival or surpass the total viewership and interest in SEC and B10 mini NFL. I have not watched a single SEC or B10 university play in any sport for 2 years and will not. A anti-trust lawsuit against all those entities (B12 and ACC included for helping to dismantle the PAC and leaving two schools in the cold) is what is needed, along with federal legislation. Sankey is exhausting. Bring back regional rivalries. It has always been the best part of college sports and is vital to athlete health.

The problem is that ESPN and Fox basically collude with the SEC and Big Ten. No one breaks away unless they have a TV contract, and no one gets a TV contract unless ESPN and Fox say so. It truly is a monopoly, four organizations that have absolute power. As they say, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The only way to combat the SEC/B1G is to boycott watching their games. They get their superior money from casual/other teams fans watching their games, not just their team’s fans. I’ve stopped watching their games as I’m tired of their greed. I’m surprised there isn’t an “organized movement” to boycott watching their games. I’ll watch any non SEC/B1G games and am still enjoying college football.

I’ve been saying this for quite some time. They have huge media contracts because of the amount of people who watch their games. If their viewership numbers go down then the media companies will not pay them those big contracts. I only watch games from conferences not SEC or BIG10.

Somebody just needs to sue and get the entire process tied up in courts for years. The bottom line is Sankey is trying to create a monopoly of two colluding organizations. A court would hear that.

Time to have the 80 or so teams outside the B10/SEC to split and form their own league. Boycott future games …let the 3 -6 teams who might want to join them to go…if they get invited..some may have a rude awakening. Time to have our own March Madness….Bowl lineups..and playoff system. Screw ESPN and the Cartel. Let the cards play themselves out!! The rules and refs…that the Cartel will have do not fit the majority of the remaining 80 teams. NIL. Transfer rules, and pay and terms of scholarships need to be within the budgets of the new league. Form the new AFL and build your own brand…with 50-60 cities and 30 or so States….you can compete. If major media outlets balk…..form you own network and delivery system. You are the afterthought anyway…and are getting hind tit today! The B12, ACC, Pac2, MW, AAC, CUSA could be very competitive and muster the support of those that want collegiate sports….not NFL farm teams!! Smaller sports and Basketball would flourish ! Local / regional advertisers would want to participate ….because these are their markets…not national high priced outlets! 40-48 teams within the Cartel….will have to kill off themselves …and deal with NFL wants bees….vs students and educating their players…along with good sport participation. A few BB schools could be included to have the #1 BB league In the world! Highlight our positives…such as Women’s sports ..that are growing !! This will take some ‘’’’Big balls and Leadership! “ but what have you got to lose…..pay and the rules are excluding teams as we speak… their goal anyway! They don’t want private or religious schools and 45,000 sized stadiums.. so the 80 or so teams could negotiate better deals and have strength in numbers …than a few trying to play both sides of the equation…. Begging for the ticket into the Big leagues. Admitting who we really are…and living within your budgets …and not chasing the rainbow …needs to happen. 80 or so teams could have a great playoff and bowl lineups…in major cities and markets!! Wake up…gather together and fight…or operate as today…die apart…and get the crums under the table !!

The SEC deserves the lion’s share of auto bids. The SEC has the best teams. They deserve the most auto bids. B1G needs to have more auto-bids. The lesser conferences should have to compete for the remaining at-large bids.

John, Thank you for all your work on this. To be honest all of this wreaks of antitrust violations regardless of the Supreme Court’s ruling in 1922, and remember the current Court has shown a willingness to overturn what it deems poor jurisprudence and its resulting precedence. If I were legal counsel for the SEC and BIG 10 I would quickly point out that the AGs of dozens of rural states happily sign on regularly to litigation involving the heavy handedness of certain actors be they commercial or governmental, and don’t kid yourselves when I say your tactics represent everything decadent that approximately 50% of college football fandom hates. That being said, no one is afraid to sue you if your practices appear to violate the competitive nature of free markets, and especially when they seem to breach the very statutes designed to govern crony capitalism, and the monopolization of industry. Be it for better or worse College Football is now a “paid profession”, and antitrust laws are designed to regulate commerce and protect the rights of consumers. So, Mr Sankey and faithful sidekick Toni Petitti you better have your big boy pants on because in my humble opinion every Attorney General representing the College Football Fandom outside of your footprint will be rushing to see who gets credit for taking down the criminal masterminds behind this latest travesty and restoring the faith of good Americans in our second greatest pastime.

I love the 72/6 team regional configuration you showed. My team, Mississippi State would be much more competitive in this Southern configuration. With only one obviously superior program. As I look through all of them, they all seem kind of like that. It’s kind of extraordinary actually. I do think it’s a shame that this can’t happen. I think they should put Nick Saban in charge of a powerful board from all the regions. That would be so fantastic. 30:08

The top power conferences want a division 1 and division 2 set up after the Power 4. This way only 60 or so teams can win national championships. You’ll never see a San Diego State or Butler type school in a football title game as in basketball.

If there is representation on the selection committee from every conference that can qualify for the CFP, the subjectivity theoretically would balance out. The subjectivity I had heard of up to this point had to do with the tv networks somehow influencing selections so that programs that draw the biggest tv ratings were favored. If this actually has taken place, the SEC and B1G seem like the ones who would have the most power to guard against this.

I'm in the Big 10 (Ohio State). Sankey annoys me. You would think that with the SEC $10 million down versus the Big 10 then he would close his mouth and close the gap. But, nope! Here we are with these weird sound bites while the SEC lags further behind the Big 10 in money.

You clearly don't know who's on the list of the top 25 revenue generating college football programs. Spoiler... it's mostly SEC & B1G teams. But there's more SEC teams than B1G teams. And there are more SEC teams on the top of the list than B1G teams. Which is sad, really, because the B1G has had a higher TV payout for a while now. The B1G gets paid more for the extra conference game. That doesn't stop them from bitching about the others who didn't go for the money grab. When the price is right, the SEC will switch. The difference between the B1G & SEC is... the B1G switched chasing revenue. The SEC will switched because they created a demand for it. Of those two scenarios, which typically pays out more historically?

History has shown that the SEC and B1G have had the most success in the NY6/ CFP. They already have the financial advantage so it seems like they would want to see how they can fare against the lesser-resourced conferences. If they lose some games to lesser-resourced programs, it seems like they would have the wherewithal to win future games even if their programs were working with less money than they previously had.

20 teams are responsible for 80% of the TV viewership. 17 of those are already in the P2. FSU and Clemson want to join the P2. And ND will eventually join the B1G. If Texas Tech and Kansas State fans want to boycott that's fine. More casual fans and bettors will want to watch the big brands play the big brands.

I pretty much boycott SEC/BIG at this point. I watched the end of the Vandy-Alabama game because it was too sweet watching Alabama get beat to let that go but otherwise, not interested. A handful of schools think college football is all about them. It's become part of the cultural to obsessively think everything is about you "me" and to believe any behavior in that context is ok as if furthers the glory of "me". The idea of collective responsibility built through family, clan, tribe, nation states and institutions is a moral value that many have largely discarded. All glory to the "me" "me" "me".

Hey John, another great show. Im a PAC fan by nature. Specific a Coug fan. I'm completely sick of the this SEC, BIG, ESPN, and FOX crap. Skanky, Pettty, ESPN, and Fox can all go to h@ll. Yes I'm not a fan of those two leagues. This supper league is complete BS and is runing College Football. ESPN and FOX have been pushing this supper league for far too long and need a complete adjustment. The only way to adjust this trend is to boy cot any SEC and BIG games on the networks. I cut the cord years ago and found I watch more G5 and FCS games on ESPN +. Finnaly get to watch some Eastern Washington and Idaho games, and still enjoy watching College Football. Hell as a WSU fan I finally get to watch more Coug games on the CW than any time before. The only way to fight them is to boycott the two Super leagues. I had seen a post, video l, on BIG12 mafia about 10 mouths ago. If the G5 boycotted the "Super League," ESPN and FOX could lose up to 30% of the viewership. Just from the G5, just think if it was the ACC, Big12, and the G5. Just saying.

The only thing I see as a reason to try and lockup a 4 spot, that could allow them to schedule bigger non-come games for TV rating and bigger media $$$. I don't think they would match Ohio St and Alabama, but maybe Alabama vs Nebraska. Ohio St vs Florida. Just a thought. SEC/B1G tier 1 teams against SEC/B1G tier 2 teams. Because you have to understand that a majority of college football fans are from those lower power, mid-major, and smaller colleges that cherish culture of regional identity over prestige. That's why a lot of people love MACtion, the Sun Belt conference, the Ivy League, and other regional conferences. That's why people relish FCS, Division 2, Division 3, NAIA, JuCo, and 3C2A. It's regional to a degree where everyone has a cultural identity and each one of them can compete for a national championship. This Super conference bullcrap is not it.
