Johnlock Moments from the Abominable Bride | Sherlock

I read somewhere else that, behind all these adorable and hilarious johnlock moments, this episode was actually quite dark and sad when considering that Sherlock took the drugs before he went on the plane, and the contents were quite lethal according to John's reaction when he saw the list of everything he had taken ("For god's sake! This could kill you, you could die!"), and Mary discovered that Sherlock was reading John's blog when she took his phone. So the episode was telling us: Sherlock attempted suicide since his brother estimated (and he is never wrong, said Sherlock) that he would not survive more than six months at the place he was assigned to go as a punishment for killing the villain back in s3e3. So when Sherlock was saying goodbye to John at the airport, it was intended to be the final farewell. And once on the plane, Sherlock went on to John's blog to the post about their first meeting as the last thing to do and for something pleasant to read before his intended death

The saddest and most angsty thing about TAB is that Sherlock took a lethal amount of drugs because he felt like there was no point in living after losing everything he cares about (John). The last thing he ever read was John's blog on his phone (heart!) where he wrote about how he thought Sherlock was mad but strangely charming, wishing he could've done things differently and let him in when he first met him before Moriarty could tear them apart. After taking the drugs, he went into his mind palace to solve a case, but all he could think about was John. Eventually he ended up on the cliff with Moriarty who represents all of his worst fears and weaknesses, with Moriarty insisting that he would end up with him forever but then suddenly John appears and saves him and he's smiling when he fall off the cliff, having come to terms with his feelings for John and excited to finally tell him after six years of being too afraid to open up which is what's gonna happen in the next season i canT WAIT IM NOT OKAY

I'm sure yall got a good laugh out of "I'm glad you liked my potato" but remember this is Sherlock. We are inside this man's head. Nothing is just for humor it has meaning. This is Sherlock understanding that John can't read body language well, if at all. John even says "I am observant in some ways." Those ways include being talked to and finding clues and checking bodies in cases. He can understand people on a emotional level, but only if he's told by them their relationship or feels it on an emotional level. Sherlock can show little body movements to tell John he loves him, but John won't ever get it until Sherlock swallows his sociopath pride and confesses his feelings.

Agree with all what you said, but Sherlock is not a sociopath. It's officially stated by Steven Moffat in an interview a few years ago. Why take the remark of the "high functioning sociopath" so serious? It was never meant serious, only sarcastic. Besides, noone can define or diagnose himself about ASPD. It's much to complex and complicated. Ben himself said in an early interview, that he play his character slightly autistic. Makes for me much more sense than the whole "sociopath" thing, in which I have never really believed. Who so much cares about the people he loves, who would do anything to protect them, risk his own life, his job and health, and put their lifes above his own, and think always of himself last can never be a sociopath. A sociopath is the exactly opposite and mostly not a good person.

Hehe... I knew somn was up with the sign language when Sherlock signed Wilder’s name like he was roaring in Pride Rock. Sherlock signs that John is his guest to Wilder. The sign for “guest” is not accurate. It means “together”. It takes me back to when he insists that John is “with” him to Lestrade when Sherlock took John to the first crime scene, as if to say that Sherlock trusts John therefore they should too. Even Donnovan was surprised that Sherlock and John bonded so quickly.

@@christinabeyer9298 oh Sherlock Holmes is definitely on the spectrum, it's just not said in the books/stories bc (i think?) autism wasn't a known thing in the 1800s (well it was a thing, there just wasn't a name for it). i could probably believe he's actually a sociopath if it was canon he was supposed to be, but yeah, he has more emotion and cares about people (few, but definitely cares about people. mainly John though) and can't truly be a sociopath. but i would say he's on the spectrum.

The creators have gone out of their way to insist that they arent in love with each other. They didnt say sherlock isnt in love w John. Or they did and I havent read that part. But given TAB is all in sherlock's head, it's safe to say his subconscious that even Sherlock himself isn't aware of, he is in love w John. But either way he knows itll never happen. That makes him sad to a certain extreme. To the point that he did what he did before he got on that plane.

i do think that even though it can't be as gay and romantic as people want it to be between Sherlock and John, they do care about each other a great deal and yeah Sherlock definitely loves and admires John (in some way, perhaps not necessarily romantically as he doesn't really do feelings quite like that) but he might not be fully aware of it. but man TAB definitely was less subtle when it comes to Sherlock loving John, other episodes have moments, but that had so much it's hard to keep up my realistic doubts about johnlock

I need to rewatch this episode. I missed half of these Johnlock moments. I didn't even notice that woman was Janine! It's heartbreaking that Sherlock is telling John goodbye for real, and he's not going to wait to die, he ODs immediately. He was planning on dying while reading about he and John first meeting. Mycroft's line "Take care of him" and his expression! The face of a man who loves his brother, but has dealt with Sherlocks' addiction his whole life and is resigned, defeated and sad. He is glad for John being in Sherlock's life.

" TJLC Explained" Someone else suggested that maybe Sherlock feels he owes/d Irene somewhat, as she was the one who made John confront - and accept - his feelings for Sherlock, at Battersea Station (a meeting and conversation which Sherlock overheard). Given 'Mary Morstan's character profile as written by Mofftiss... If 'Mary' had escaped to England/UK as an 'asylum seeker' (trying to leave behind her life as a former assassin), married under a false name, and the marriage was found to be one of 'convenience' (eg. to gain 'impunity' - freedom from punishment for crimes committed in another country, eg, murder),... and then re-offended [murder/attempted murder] and all this was proven in court... the marriage could be declared invalid and she would likely be deported to and incarcerated in another country. Of course, I could be wrong..... ; )
