Love the vids, and LOVE this idea and build. As the son of a carpenter, I really appreciate the home build ideas. I get so wrapped up in standard remodels or small additions, that I sometimes forget the joy of a cool, creative project for our own home. Great stuff, John. At some point…I’ll take on epoxy. 😂

idk if you fixed it yet but for the noisy metal cabinets at 11:06 a cheap and easy fix without redesigning anything would just be to back the screws out, add some rubber o rings or even some rubber furniture bumpers and screw em back in. the bumpers would give more surface area for a tighter fit and would hardly be noticeable if you can find the right size.

I really enjoy your channel. You have helped revive my passion for woodworking. Your channel is now the most enjoyable as far as the woodworking channels I watch. Your format and personality is easy to watch. It's nice that you have other people in your videos on occasion because it breaks up the monotony of one guy continuously talking into the camera (which a lot of your piers haven't figured out yet). I work at a cabinet shop/ sports locker shop and for sports lockers we use metal grating just like that and there is a clear rubber product that comes in a long line that we cut to size and insert between the metal and a little 1/8 inch line that we rout out. That would be what you’re looking for for those doors. I could get more information if you’re interested

I have had woodwork experience before, but it was a long time ago. I always wonder what it takes for these sort of projects. Where do you set the bar so it doesn't look out of place to people of all heights. My main concerns is that if I ever DIY something similar to this the height of my bar would be limiting to only me.

Curious about the automatic down motion. Does it have a sensor build into the desk where if it hits resistance (like a pinched hand) that it will stop going down and reverse?
@THETICK36 Жыл бұрын
for the mesh in the doors you could have routed out some holes for some small rare earth magnets and epoxied them in if you used steel mesh, if you used an aluminum mesh, you could have routed a "half lap" joint on the back, placed the mesh and then made a small "veneer" to screw to the door and hold it that way.

Came out real nice, I just think you should throw two somewhat narrow glass or acrylic glass windows in the front of the "hidden" shelf so that you can actually see that beautiful collection without having to raise the shelf. Realistically, you are only raising it to add more bottles (which it looks like it's full already) or to open one and drink from (which it looks like they are all closed to be collected). So you don't really raise or lower the bar that often and the windows would give you a sleek, permanent way too look at the bottles, without having to raise it.
