Off topic but you might want to consider hanging the curtains higher and wider. Higher so they don't pool on the floor and wider so that when you open the curtains they are covering the wall instead of the window. Everything looks great though! I love how the fireplace turned out. Such an improvement over what it was.

I've had prescription safety lenses made by my eye doctor or wherever he sends them. I just dropped off my frames and picked them up a few days later.

Honestly, I’ve held out because I can’t get them in +2.0. I just use cheap magnifiers, but can’t find safety glasses.

@@mjc8248 yeah my eye Dr finally told me last summer about that. I saw some frames that would look great as sunglasses, and he said we'll put shaded lenses in them then. My mind did a hard restart, how did I not know?

Scary fall, but NICE save!! Also, it seems like you could have made that mantle a recessed drawer if, instead of having the drawer go all the way across, have a drawer on each end, leaving space in the middle for the ducts. The mantle could still be one piece, but it would pull out both drawers at once. Am I describing it the way the picture looks in my head? I hope so. Anyway, very cool build!

15:06 that’s why you face a ladder. 😂 Also, you’re supposed to place the corners first for any kind of masonry because it’s easier to cut and fit the straight pieces. It still looks good, it just makes it easier on you.

Looks amazing! Love the Evolve Stone! The shelves look great! I am just wondering though, if you left a way to access the back so you can get to the gas and electrical for the fireplace in case anything happens. An access way like a hidden built in door or a pop off section of the wall in case you needed to do work back there. But always love the content and I love how the room ties together!

Nice looking project! Glad no one was hurt with that fall. As someone who fell last year and shattered my ankle I can tell you the rehab isn't something you want to deal with. I will say too that with the amount of adhesive used around that fireplace bottom god speed to anyone who has to replace or service it in the future ;) Beyond that though that really came out well!

just a small but important tip for anyone doing this: its best to attach a straight board one row from the bottom for all of the weight to sit on as you stack out the walls. helps to keep stuff from shifting as you work. then you come in later when everything is dry and remove that board and fill the bottom row out.
@ganjalfcreamcorn84388 ай бұрын
ahh, didnt know you could nail this material. what i said is more important for actual stone or tile.

I actually install these fireplaces. Maybe I missed it because the video was sped up but in the install manual you’re supposed to either put a fire rated caulk or foil tape the outer sections of pipe for the built in power vent to properly push the exhaust out the pipe. Without it the fireplace might not run properly

As someone who grew up with tiled stoves in every room as the mean heating souce (and a coal powered bath boiler), I was firing up an oven since I was six or seven years old. This means that I would not be interested in anything fireplace-like where you can't put a log of wood in, light it and watch it turn to ashes. But that's just me.
