Sveiki atvykti į Lietuvą! I lived in Lithuania for 12 years. 95 until 07. Married a Lithuanian and both kids born there so go back a lot. It is a great country and so much to see. The coast, Nida and it's dunes, the cities, the east and the lakes. I lived in the North so know the crossing you came through. We were 25km from the Latvian border.

Another good video, thank you. I'm not sure where you are with regards to Schengen border crossings. I don't know whether you remember but back when you entered France, you mentioned in your vlog you weren't sure your passports had been stamped with your entry date into France. I said it might be worth checking because of the 90 day rule, but you were happy to see how it went. Well we've just got back from a tour to Spain. We got back on day 84. However! Anns' passport hadn't been stamped as returning to The UK in June, when she came back from Lanzarote after two weeks, or when she left The UK when we left in September. Consequently, according to the dates in her Passport she'd been there for the entire time and was well over her 90 days. It seems the UK border staff and systems weren't taking it as serious as they should be! We were held up at the EuroTunnel border whilst the officials sorted out where to go next. I remembered we had the emails with flight times and dates on. After 20 minutes they decided to accept them, rather than start filling in paperwork for a prosecution! The moral of the tale is please make sure you now have any passports stamped properly when you cross a border, especially when it comes to counting the 90 day rules. Stay safe and Bon Route.
@johnmandy3 жыл бұрын
We’re out of Schengen now and despite not having any french entry stamps in our passport the Hungarians stamped us out and the Romanians stamped us in with no issues at all. Keeping records of your travels is a must these days though.

Tallin. Excellent place. Stopped and had a beer in that square although it was a touch warmer when we were there. Did you walk down to the old city gate that used to be at the sea shore/ Now about a mile from the sea but it is the non-descript 4-storey building with the plaque on the outside that people walk by. John. Fun "Gadget fact" Estonian internet is some of the best (maybe the best) in the world. Some years ago when they needed to upgrade their phone system they were offered secondhand equipment (I want to say by Finland?) But opted to build their own fully digital system. As a result they now have a fully digital society enabling everything from taxes, to voting to optical prescriptions to be fulfilled remotely. They also have more tech startups per head than Silicon Valley. (Originally made aware by Robert Llewellyn (Kryten, Red Dwarf) on his fully charged YT channel)

Hi John and Mandy, Another great video, thank you for all the effort that both of you put on your videos, they are highly appreciated by all your of us. Now a small technical question for John, since you mentioned this product on your channel. I have a Victron Smart Shunt, and I realising that the information provided through Bluetooth is not reliable at all, since the most of the time it looks that the Shunt is stuck at 100%…since the battery Bluetooth if giving me values completely different. Have you experienced similar situations? Thanks in advance and keep enjoying this beautiful world, hope to be able to do it too. Best regards
@johnmandy3 жыл бұрын
The problem with the BMV 712 and lithium is that it cannot accurately read the state of charge of your batteries. The first thing to do is go to your battery Bluetooth app, take a note of the battery percentage, then go into your shiny, settings, battery info & enter the correct value in State of Charge. You’ll need to do this every day, or just ignore the battery percentage reading on the BMV

I asked you guys this before you started your trip, but now that you're well into it, I wonder how you are finding the road signs and rules of each country. 13:40 Please don't get me wrong, but I believe you are wrong. It doesn't have to be eaten before posted date. And so many people are wrong on this topic, which is why I'm allowing myself to mention it. Dry goods often have a "Best before" date, at least here in Norway. You can eat it months after that date. Even canned goods can be eaten LONG after their printed date, as long as it's proper canned goods and not like "half preserved". If it says expiry date, that's different and should be followed. But milk, eggs and other things can be Ok to eat after printed date. Dry goods as I say, absolutely no problem. 1 year old tomato soup in cupboard? No problem! Open, look/smell/taste. If it looks ok, and it smells ok, and it tastes ok, you can eat it. I found 2 year old squash at my cabin. (The kind with lots of sugar) It was unopened, but didn't look bad. Opened it, didn't smell bad, and it tasted normal.. :) Sent a pic to an old coworker that almost got a heart attack because she genuinaly though "it had expired".. Which was not true, sugar is a conservative :) Thanks for the video! :D

Oh we eat things out of date all the time, definitely do not like wasting food and will happily sniff test things - it’s the wonder of social media that makes me mention it as if I don’t others will call me out for eating expired food 😁🤷🏼♀️

@@johnmandy hey :) yeah, it's a shame people don't understand expiry Vs best before. . It causes "being called out" as you sayz but I would claim "wrongfully called out" :) I do see how it minimises "reeeee, expired food" comments :) thanks for your time :)

I love all your videos, too. I do worry though about the snacks and foods that you buy . With all that junk food your health prospects and your life expectancy is not good . Surely you must know that. You have to get onto some good old fashioned cooking . Plain unprocessed food. My wife and I are 78 years old and still touring and camping. Will you manage that? best wishes to you both.....

You should watch more of our videos to see what we eat, instead of thinking we only eat what you saw in one video 👍🏻

Are you keeping a record of the cheapest countries for fuel/food/campsites and best places for free camping. I'm planning a trip into the EU and possibly further and it would be handy to know the budget friendly countries to visits.

We give out this info in each video but we are also recording a series of videos to show how each country scores for being vanlife friendly.

@@johnmandy I watch all your videos without fail. It's hard to keep track of all the info from one country to the next. You are both far more organized than I will ever be.
