Good information as Always! Thanks. I believe the RV industry has given itself a black eye ! The quality is poor and the used market is flooded with a RV that probably has issues. Thanks John ! 👍

I was just at the Coachman Factory in Middlebury, Indiana on November 5th. It was as busy as it can be. #1 is the B Van, building them like crazy. Check the prices of the Winnebago Travato vs the Coachman Nova. Travato is about 20-25% higher with a poorer quality. Winner - Coachman.

Another great update John. I looked for it on Oct 31 - nope. Nov 1 - nada. Nov 2&3 - nyet. I was worried you had moved on. Thus I was deliriously happy when I found you this morning. I owned a Winnebago diesel pusher from 2015-2021. When the pandemic hit in 2020 and rv sales exploded I postulated on a Facebook group there was going to be a glut of slightly used rvs after the Covid thing went away. Rv travel is just not everybody’s cup of tea. And for once I was right. I can’t imagine the chagrin of people trying to unload their gently and seldom used rvs, into an ocean of used units. I’m now in the market for a new diesel and am thankful that I’m in a somewhat buyers market. And I pay careful attention to your analysis. Thanks John for all you do.

You should be in the driver's seat if you are shopping for any motorhome (pun intended)! I think a few of us thought that the dumping of used RVs would happen much sooner. I think there has been a mass innoculation by the industry, and people who bought during the pandemic just aren't using their rigs enought to keep them. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

I’ve been looking at new RVs to replace my 2019 Jayco. Quality issues though are a real concern. I looked at Winnebego as well and it seems they are not keeping up with the completion that has way more options at a cheaper price, such as 12V TVs, solar, etc….

As a race car track guy that has 24 -30 days per summer I’ve been looking at super c class rv’s … the rv ha so be strong enough to have a stacker (2car) trailer in tow .. which one would you suggest? I’m looking at used dynamax dx3 super c class rv’s …what do you think? Is it a good buy? I will use it for the obvious reason… it will be parked indoors when not in use ..

Solid report. I'm currently in the market shopping 5th wheels hard in Central Florida. Many units to shop. From leftover 2023s to many well maintained late teens luxury 5th wheels. The STEEP quality decline in the 2020 and newer models is easy to see. For the money, hard to rationalize a purchase of any newer year models when there are so many well maintained 2015 - 2019 units out there. If I was a current RV owner I'd a solid 2017 RV, I'd consider myself money ahead and just go camping more.

this is my first time seeing your channel and i like the way you go thru the numbers and untangle the word salad. my question is i am a cash buyer looking for a used motor home, why would a time when used values ate down not be a good time to be in the market?
@JohnMarucci
@JohnMarucci 20 күн бұрын
It is a good time to be in the market if you are a cash buyer and are willing to go fo a good quality used unit. The key will be having any used motorhome inspected, even if it is being sold froma dealer. If they want the sale, insist that you be allowed to have your inspector look at it. You should be able to find an independent Rv inspector here: nrvia.org/locate/

He may be referencing poor quality of builds paired with higher prices since 2020. However, if you find something that looks good to you, it is a buyers market.

I’d be wary of buy new without an independent inspection as I’m not convinced quality is where it should be. Don’t look past quality used units that are well maintained.

An RV owner is only “Burnt” if they have an RV that they don’t like, want to end RVing or can’t afford the RV they own.. If you like your current RV, can afford the payments if you have a payment and want to continue traveling in your RV then who really cares about the value of used RVs?
@JohnMarucci

Hmm, so if your city rezones land next to your neighborhood to commercial use and business or services move in that lower your house value, you’re good with that? If a company or industry works in a way that their actions accelerate the depreciation expense on an asset I own, it does in fact cause unnecessary economic injury. As I see it, your argument only makes sense if you plan to never enter the secondary market (ride your value to zero). I enjoy a good economic debate, so feel free to interject. Thanks!

If you want to throw money away, buy an RV. It will depreciate 50-60% the first year, it will spend most of the time in a shop where nothing is ever under warranty, and when you use it something always goes wrong. RV stands for Ruined Vacation

Well I can tell you the quality of the 20 to 24 models are crap based on my walk arounds over the past few years. I have been in one 25 and the quality and fit and finish seemed better. However, all these people who bought the lemons continue to have problems. So far my 19 TT with over 35k miles on it has been great. Watch out for the relabeling of 23s to 24s even though they were 23 models.

Excellent review. Rich content for any RVer. Wish you would take a deep dive into the exploding Class B industry. From what we see, there are so many smaller, non RVIA, Class B builders. Today at Lake Tahoe, the Class B vans, especially those on a Sprinter build, are everywhere.

the problem with non RVIA RV is that we have had several campgrounds check our tags to verify ours was certified.... supposedly it verifies your rig was designed and built to some safety standards... I appreciate that as we have camped next to some really shitty home builds recently and I wondered how safe they were. I don't want to return to my rig being burnt down because somebody tried to build a camper watching KZbin videos
