There are a few key artists who are forever tied to the Dumble ODS tone - Robben Ford is one - and Joe Bonamassa is another. I'm a big fan of Bonamassa's tone and I'm not sure this totally nails it, but hopefully somewhere in the ballpark. There should also be some Reverb on the Tweed side of the tone, but I ran out of DSP!

His setup is really intricate! Silver jubilee always on with Leslie and delay (no verb) - these have the EVs Tweed twins set driving but clean up with vol knob (cleaner parts and bluesier solos) Celestion lead 80s/JB85s Dumble comes in in place of the tweeds for the saturated lead sound on and on the rockier tunes (Rv5 doing the reverb) also celestion lead 80s/JB85s Gain pedals hit whichever amps he’s playing, the fuzz face only goes to the tweeds Great job though John, sounds great! Inspiring playing as always

I tried this out but wasn't fully satisfied so I watched watched some videos on joes rig from several years back. So I tried his rig on HX stomp xl using the jcm 800 and the Dumbledore (litigator) run through the Marshall cab and it sounds spectacular.

Great playing and sound as usual. I've heard Joe often talks about how he fiddles around also with the tone pots saying people often forget about all the options you get there. I once payed a Joe B signature gold top and these ones have nylon saddles that tames the top end a bit. I really loved that guitar.

Great video and playing, as usual, John. I set up a rig with a ToneX in the loop of an HX Stomp. I copied your preset and substituted ToneX into the EF Left for the tweed-style amp and that freed up quite a bit of dsp. The HX Stomp is quite powerful when you use only as a platform and for its effects. I'm also using a Morningstar MC6 Pro to control everything, and and a BodyRex in EFX right for a piezo acoustic preset. I haven't gotten it to sound as good as my Quad Cortex, but it's pretty close and it's a very good backup. Keep up the good work. 👍

Hey John, had an interesting thing happen while I was dialing in this preset to my Helix directly. I followed everything exactly as you laid out, but when I got to adding the Stupor, I ran out of DSP (greyed out). So I DL'd your preset and loaded it, and dang if the Stupor was there! Any idea why this may have happened?

That's why you can buy his presets and Just load them on. No skills needed. But man Helix is the easiest most intuitive UI of all the modelers so if you can't deal with it..... ;( sorry. But yeah Just buy then from him.

I learned a TON from John's programming vids. it's a great way to learn your way around dialing in the machine. After a while, it all becomes second nature. And, there's always HXEdit if you want to do it on your computer instead of the Helix/Stomp. Not much use at a gig, though. You kinda need to learn how to program direct on the machine.
