In the summer of 1976, Merv turned his show over to the annual Ebony Awards, co-hosted by Flip Wilson and Natalie Cole. To close the show R&B superstar Johnnie Taylor performed his smash hit "Disco Lady." Merv Griffin had over 5000 guests appear on his show from 1963-1986.
