The way Shelly sang the lyrics, and how she exquisitely expressed them were absolutely impeccable. This is truly a timeless masterpiece.
@jaymorgenthal94793 жыл бұрын
Of course it’s obviously lip syncing to the hit recording which in those days were “over dubbed “ meaning the singer sang the song then sang it again while the first recording was played. That provided the “echo effect”.

I didnt know that she sang this song.i had a teenage sister that had to share a bedroom with me.She would sing songs to me at bedtime I was 5.Where oh whdre can my baby be.Jeanies afraid of the dark were my favorites.i can't imagine a 17 year old sharing a room. With a 5 year old nowadays.

I saw that relatively recent interview with Shelley. It just shows us the genius of the record producer at the time she recorded this song. She was put in a perfect position to succeed - with a perfect song and musical setting. And succeed the record did. And they were able to do this with many "teen idols" who didn't have much singing experience.

My first slow dance song. In fact first dance ever and I remember her name Sharon. Pretty auburn haired girl. My family was stationed in Japan at Itazuki AFB and we lived at the housing annex, Hakata where the families lived away from the actual base. My father was a fighter pilot with the 8th Fighter Wing flying 105s. One day during lunch break we used to go to the youth center as we had an hour break. It was about 2 blocks from the school, and this song came on the jukebox. Suddenly Sharon who was a year ahead of me, came over to me grabbed my hand and said dance with me. I about stopped breathing. Never been near a girl before and here my very first dance ever and it was a slow dance with a girl to this song. I have never forgotten this song and it was 1963. I was in 7th and she was 8th. Next day she asked me to dance again to Sealed With A Kiss. The following week we all got transfer orders (our parents all knew about them a few weeks earlier and waited to tell us until it was time to actually move. and her family was shipped back to the states following week and we were shipped up north to Tokyo at Yakota AFB I have always wondered what became of her all these decades later.

@@thealphaandomega9348 That wasn't everywhere! You make it sound like EVERYONE was racist. I got news for you: it was a distinct minority (mostly in the 11 States in the southern U.S.), not everywhere and everyone, and there were many whites who also opposed segregation in those 11 States, but were out-voted for a long time! Without the government force of law, there would be very few racists, who have steadily been declining in numbers year-after-year. We're sick of this constant, "everything is racist" argument! Only a few years ago, Mathematics was called "racist." English language was also labeled that! When does it stop? Where does it stop with the constant racist line? NOBODY living today was a slave! And segregation, the LAWS (always by government FORCE) were quickly abolished in those states after 1965. So, it wasn't the people, it was GOVERNMENT that imposes slavery, or Jim Crow LAWS, not individuals, who should all be FREE to knock down the pro-segregationists in CONGRESS or State LEGISLATURES, but those LAWS were the problem for 100 years! That is what you should concentrate on, not chattel slavery, which ended after the 13th Amendment was ratified in Dec. 1865; Lincoln OPPOSED that Amendment, and wanted to export the blacks to Liberia, in Africa! He was the racist, contrary to the government skools that lie to you about him! So, stop with the race-baiting already!
