These types of movies are so rare today. No foul language or lewd scenes. Plus there are principles and a moral to it.

I wasn't sure at first, if I would even enjoy this movie. Most often than not, a re-make of such an iconic classic, NEVER lives up to the original!! I mean really, Agnes Moorhead & Jane Wyman!??! Both ladies, Queens of the Silver screen!!! I'm rambling....😂 What I want to express is my opinion / comment / feeling of this version..... Beautiful! Definitely lived up to the Original!! What a shame; Films now days can't or don't follow the clear path these forged!!! ❤

When she killed Kyle in self defense, I was real proud of her. She was getting justice for herself and for her father, and protecting herself and her child. I hated how he thought he could just go to their house and take away her baby boy. Like who did he think he was ?! Yes, he was the father biologically but he wasn’t a the one capable of providing for his son, especially with the way he acted. 🥺🥺

I cried when I was happy, and I cried when they were hurt. It hurt me too. Some of my kinfolk would laugh and make fun of me, but I just empathized, with the characters, so much. I cheered when the man was killed, and I was glad that it was Belinda, who killed him and not John Boy, that way nobody thought that it was he who killed him, out of jealously. The only thing, that I wondered about, was why didn’t they call the police, when the whole thing started? I guess if they had done that, the police wouldn’t have been able to stop it either. I hated that Melinda’s father got killed. Maybe that was it. He was killed, in order for John Boy to see that she wouldn’t have her father to rely, on to help her. I think that John Boy would have married her anyway, because I think he really loved her ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

She was fun loving, teasing all the time just a pleasure, but I was a fast and furious dater at 18 and when they split, she vanished. Oh well. After getting married 2 times first a nag the other the silent treatment queen, hard to decide which was worse, but deaf would slow down things, and you wouldn't fight much I would think. Peace and quiet in old age is the best, so marriage to a deaf girl might have worked out.

I describe myself as a child of the 60's, emphasis on child. I am not terribly old at this time. Anyway, I knew a kid who went through school in the TMR (Trainable Mentally Retarded)* class. As an adult it was found he was mostly deaf. He could hear some sounds, even some words but was primarily deaf. He had some special talents which he developed as an adult. He always had an odd personality, I think because all of his developmental years were deprived of the ability to fully communicate. *For the young of the 21st century, yes, TMR was an actual term used into the 1970's. That was not horribly long ago. At that time the science of learning was just getting started. Kids either learned like their classmates, or if they could not and fell too far behind, they were labelled "MR". It wasn't till around the 1980's that knowledge about dyslexia, etc. was becoming mainstream. I am sure for the young generation now, the term Mentally Retarded, or Mental Retard, must be shocking. Modern terms like learning challenged are very much better.

I'm not normally a fan of remakes but this one is nearly as good as the original 1948 Jane Wyman, Lew Ayres film. It updates the setting in a more contemporary fashion. The only thing missing is the court room drama at the end but the use of the social worker as the hero rather than a doctor is a nice touch. This film reminded me of the 1965 film "A Patch of Blue."

Her father proud of her too !! He couldn’t protect her forever but that was his baby girl and he did everything he could for her. He died defending her honor but now she knows her rapist will never come near her or her/his family again.

Great movie! So many good, young actors. I've only seen Richard Thomas in one other movie besides the Walton's, of course. Which he was awesome in. Great upload. 2 thumbs up. Thanks

William Richmond is a dedicated aid worker, sent to a small southern community to help the poor. While there William meets Belinda, a young deaf mute, whose father wants no help. In time William teaches Belinda sign language and she starts to come out of her shell. Belinda is raped during a party, three months later its found out she is pregnant. The story gets dramatic when the father decides he wants to take the baby from Belinda. Great cast and performances in this made for TV tearjerker. Belinda played by Rosanna Arquette gives an Emmy winning performance as the deaf mute girl. Please be advised this film could bring you to tears, it did me.
