In this clip, Johnny was "on" for the camera. Somewhat rehearsed, and receptive to this interview. There are other interviews Ive seen where Johnny was in a bad mood, but tried to be his public image and it wasn't really working. I know that Johnny was a quiet guy out of the spotlight, and sometimes moody. Good old Regis Philbin, how good looking he was back in 1984. May he rest in peace, too.

As a side note, one of my favorite cars in the world is indeed the yellow version of that beautiful late 70s/early 1980s style Rolls-Royce Cornish convertible (a perfect example would be the one that Dudley Moore's character in the movie "10" drove)! Soooooo tragic, all the pre 1972 Carson show tapes were trashed because NBC claims they "needed" the storage space. The reason we have classic episodes of "Ed Sullivan" and "What's My Line," is because a smart cookie at CBS saved the kinescopes, the filming of a TV monitor, used to present live shows on the West Coast.

@@angelthman1659 This was probably a promotional event set up for Regis. Johnny is aware in advance, but it not being scripted, you can see he's nervous as he exits the car. He relaxes somewhat and becomes his on screen persona as they talk together on set. It's probably where Johnny felt more in control of the conversation. You can see how competitive Regis is, he's also pushing the flattery a bit too much The part where he joked to Regis "OK, next person" to sit at his desk, might have been a slip, revealing what he really felt about him.
