Who even watches late night talk shows anymore?

It doesn't seem like reaction shots were done during this show. It would have been nice to see. Orson had a great laugh.

those shots were thrown out with the amebrson's footage.

Youd think the folks over at the AMERICAN FILM INSTITUTE would understand the basic concepts of cinematography...

It crossed my mind that someone who isn't Ed McMahon saying, "Here's Johnny!" might have annoyed Ed, given that it's his line. But if you're going to give someone a pass, Frank Sinatra would be the guy.

ChainX, you need to do more (or better) research. And maybe develop a better eye for film.

Mixed reaction to the comments. I figured that a tribute to a film legend from a TV legend would have more than seven, inc. this one. But I am happy to note the absence of mawkish, overly sentimental pap about everything being better back then. It doesn't matter when exactly, as long as it's in someone's living memory, you'll usually see someone saying, in that most binary way, that people back then were funnier, more talented, more decent...because everything back then was better than it is now. The other one I chuckle at is the notion of the past being more innocent. When people refer to the more innocent times, they tend to forget things like world wars, slavery, poverty, homophobia and, in the case of America, successful serial killers.

Oh god, words can not describe how much I love your comment and echo its sentiments tenfold. This is something I wind up trying to get through to these hyper-nostalgic dingbats almost every day. They're such a fucking drain on our culture and do nothing but whine and complain and try to hold everyone back. Its maddening and seeing that at least ONE other person out there understands these concepts perfectly, seeing that there is at least ONE other person out there who is sane and has a good head on their shoulders has truly done WONDERS for my sanity. I'm 100% serious. Thank you. Seeing this comment was a most amazing birthday gift, lol! :p
