Mr. Cash was an Air Force veteran, and I can imagine that this song had special meaning for him.

They are gonna play this version at the ceremony when my family scatter my ashes over the sea. As a memento of my dreams in my life. As a man, a nurse, a psychologist and sailor.

If all the people in the world would say, "I believe in my dreams! I believe in that dream!", this thing could really happen. Because it's our dreams that make things happen in the world. Too many people still dream of and believe in war, even if they don't realize it. Many little peaces sum up to peace around the world. I feel that deep in my heart that this day will come someday. - Thank you CashFan for posting this "world-hymn".

I can count the number of singers who break my heart on a regular basis on one hand. Johnny's one of them. He just had that power.

How about the next time the billionaires and their puppets in government declare a war, we just refuse to fight it? They can't fight their wars if we won't march. We have the power to end war if we find the courage to talk to other people instead of fighting them.

My dad, Ed McCurdy, wrote this song in 1950, but later changed the lyrics (sometime in the '80's I think) to read: "I dreamed I saw a mighty room, filled with women and men". He was a little head of the curve, in many ways. He didn't live to hear Jonny's rendition of it, but I think he would have appreciated it!

My sister in law taught this song to not only me but her three children knew it before they had entered school. Same with each of her grandchildren. I too have taught it to my brother’s kids. Again, when very young. They all sign it around camp fires with friends & at our families gatherings. One of the family traditions I hope never end, even when there’s no more war & it’s seen as a historic song.

@TheDesertsItalian That's exactly how i feel. There are Worlwide musical "legends", that can't even write "Music" correctly. This man was a genious: the lyrics are honest and pure, his voice was awesome and he played the guitar like a master.Lil' Wayne is just an "inutile",compared to Cash. I miss the old good music.it's sad to see that the 21 century has started with a negative musical progress.People like Cash are pearls in an ocean of auditive pain.
