The reference to the commercial with the bull coming through the door, was the trademark of the Schlitz Malt Liquor company. "Don't say beer, say Bull", was their jingle, The commercials ran in the late 1970's, and had a bull coming through the walls, doors, etc at the end of the commercial. You can probably find a video on the internet.

So happy to finally see a reaction to this movie! Unlike (for instance) Airplane!, these jokes and sight gags are understated and clever as well as nearly continuous. Good for a nonstop chuckle vs. outright ROFL. As many others noted, the red smoking jacket and bull were a reference to a series of malt liquor ads from the day. The newsman who keeps getting whacked in the head is Ray Walston, famous as My Favorite Martian from the early 60s TV series, also in Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Star Trek Voyager. I love every bit of this movie and every character. I think Dundee's corner bathroom where he almost dies is a callback to Dr. Strangelove. Perhaps Lil's dress was an inspiration for Jessica Rabbit's dress. Of course the 88 Magnum was a play on Dirty Harry's 44 Magnum. And so forth. I think my favorite line is the exchange about "you've got those..."

Favorite character was Ray Walston, the news vendor - My Favorite Martian!! He later had a recurring role as a sage groundskeeper at Starfleet Academy. Also there was Alan Hale Jr (Skipper of the SS Minnow) & Oscar winner Maureen Stapleton as Ma. About the only comedy with a better variety cast is It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (1963).

I guess my favorite scene was when Danny Vermin (Joe Piscopo) said “You shouldn't kick me in the balls, lady. My sister kicked me in the balls once, ....once.” 😁 BTW, now you need to watch “Harlem Nights” (1989). The cast reads like a who’s who of comedy greats from the 70s and 80s. Definitely worth the watch! Oh, and Joe Piscopo had a Halloween Special on HBO in 1987 that was pretty good. We all liked it, anyway.

Dies in commercial refers to the Schlitz malt liquor bull. 70s Schlitz ads had a bull crash thru the window as in the scene w/ DeVito when he said, "Malt liquor". Malt liquor are the words that cue the bull to jump in. Here's one featuring a young Kevin Kline: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eX-Vanylq72leLc That joke is admittedly very dated.

Saw this a few times as a child. Didn't understand a lot of the more adult humor but it was an early Micheal Keaton film for me. Mr. Mom was another that really helped me begin to like Keaton. I thought he made a great Batman and Bruce Wayne, was was surprised to learn people were against him being chosen for the Tim Burton Batman films. He's a great actor, and wish he would be in more films now. People should check out the 2016 film The Founder, which is about Ray Kroc, the person that is famous for the fast food chain McDonald's. Keaton is terrific in that.

20:06 There was a TV commercial back then for Colt 45 malt liquor featuring a man watching a bullfight, for some reason, at a table inside the actual arena area. He's very bored until the waiter brings him some Colt 45, then the bull attacks him. Yea, never made sense to me either.
