He said some things about her in private text messages to various friends out of anger and frustration, but that is different than publicly smearing someone like she has done or actually causing someone physical harm, which I do not believe he has. I can’t believe his legal counsel isn’t objecting to any of this. I’ll add this - smoking pot, drinking and taking drugs does NOT automatically make someone a physical abuser so the point her lawyer is trying to make is a moot point. JD has openly admitted to his use of all of those things.

Sorry disagree. I was married to a raging alcoholic. They are monsters. The mental screwing was horrific. He wants to blame this part of himself on his traumatic childhood but he of all people has had the monetary resources to receive every kind of therapy possible. He got into a relationship as a addict and they are ticking time bombs, in fact monsters in their active addiction, definitely not a spouse. Not saying she is healthy emotionally but being with an addict brings out a unrelenting anger that she in no doubt will need ptsd therapy treatment before she can again be in any kind of relationship.

It’s all confusing as to where her attorney was even going with everything. He clearly said he couldn’t be sure about using Xanax or Aderall with Bettany. He never said he didn’t. This is tragic. I've grown up in a family full of narcissists like Amber appears to be. They rile you up so hard that you cannot stand it, up to the point of insanity. They gaslight you and then you feel like you're actually the crazy one. The magnitude of frustration they cause is incomprehensible. I've never punched anyone, hurt anyone physically, but I did vent to my friends. It was the only thing I got. Otherwise you just can't handle it. I'm a pretty emotional, artistic person myself and sought the release in music, but it's not enough, the emotions need to be put into words and just vented out. And when I finally turned 18 and left them behind I still had to live with heavy trauma. It's been years, I'm attending therapy, and I've used substances the same way Johnny described: sporadically, far apart, not to party but to numb the pain. There's no difference between taking medication a psychiatrist prescribes and taking some other drug when you're not heavily addicted - and then you have a DISEASE. Addicts aren't criminals, they're in need of help. Johnny taking some drug once in a while isn't a testament of his character, not one tiny bit. I hope the jury doesn't take the bait and doesn't see him as a criminal for smoking pot or snorting a line of cocaine a few times, that would've been psychotic.
@LNMarls2 жыл бұрын
Statistically speaking, I would wager that at least 1 of those jurors had a substance issue in the past. However improbable, it is not implausible. And by substance issue I am generalising so as to include any negatively understood vice that impacts the subject mentally, physically, or in the socioeconomic interactions they have. Whether it's smoking, drugs, booze, scratch tickets; even deep fried food; failing to moderate temptation is cause for concern.

I think Johnny will win as long as his attorneys can successfully prove that he wasn't abusive to her, but this trial truly shows that the combination of drugs/alcohol on one side, and an untreated personality disorder of that severity on the other, produces a toxic nightmare of a relationship that should not continue under any circumstance. I wish him continued sobriety (assuming he's now clean and sober), and her the treatment and consequences she needs to understand that she needs mental health treatment.

@@Jeni10 there are no medications but if people are willing to accept their diagnosis sometimes cognitive behavioral therapy can be utilized to help them realize what behaviors are inappropriate and give them ways to correct the behavior into something more socially acceptable. I have a family friend whose young adult son is BPD and once he started CBT his behaviors did improve. His first instincts are still usually pretty bad, but he now has the tools to help him stop before he acts and choose better behaviors. This is so funny- her attorney is beating the term “monster” to death. Johnny already said it refers to alcohol and drug addiction- not himself being a literal monster. He is trying to keep Johnny from talking, even tho he has waited 6 years to have his turn. Her lawyer is the one wasting the jury’s time with all the delays for him to redact documents that should have already been done. Good grief he has had years to prepare these papers!
@taranwoodward93782 жыл бұрын
Yes!! I keep saying the same thing every time we have to pause. He's only really asked like 10 questions in almost 2 hours with all the wait time. JD could of used that time for context around the questions being asked. Also the lawyer just continues to prove that he did drugs. Yes, we know that......next "LINE" of questioning.
@Shrimpyyyyyyyy2 жыл бұрын
Perhaps he's trying to sneak in something that should be redacted?
@han.k69582 жыл бұрын
He's focussing on that term because Johnny, as part of his argument that he was not the agressive one, claimed he only referred to himself as "monster" to placate AH, and wasn't in any way a monster in his own mind, he was just trying to please her. The lawyer is demonstrating as plainly as he can to the jury that this is unture, and JD recognised himself to be agressive, unpleasant and often out of control when drunk and high. He used this term commonly to his friends and doctor when AH isn't present. It is pertinent to the case, as it shows he is not only misleading with his testimony to paint AH more negatively, as someone who needed to be placated, but also that he was aware he was horrible to her on many fronts when using drink and drugs, it wasn't just her saying it was an issue, as he said on day 1 of his testimony. He said over and and over in messages to friends it made him a monster and he needed to change, but that doesn't suit his defamation claim, so he's trying to get away from it. Highly relevant to the case.
