JD started this trial. She didn't know there would be a trial at the time so she couldn't have planned this. Amber was mostly in the wrong overall but just recording someone isn't a sin. It's actually advisable in some situations. First, I think their therapist recommended recording themselves during their discussions. Second, Amber seemed to believe he was a loose cannon that could potentially harm himself or others. He didn't end up doing that but it was a possibility (I like Johnny but he clearly wasn't emotionally stable at this time). Of course Amber was also unstable and a loose cannon but she wouldn't know this about herself

Man when he was about to cut himself I felt awful. Being in a relationship where I was punched, kneed, elbowed, slapped, verbally abused, I turned to cutting and suicide for nearly two years. I haven't had similar thoughts or experiences for 5 years now and haven't attempted anything for 5 years but I cannot believe she was recording that instead of trying to help him. I abused opiates and alcohol for 2 years during the peak of my suicidal tendencies and live with the scars that never faded. Tough thing to live with but it's a reminder that you got through it. I'm glad he's looking like he's doing better

If you watch the full trial stream from this day theirs a moment when Judge A is giving the jury instructions for the weekend and Johnny lifts his head up after hearing that audio and stares down Rottenborn. He has a look of disgust, sadness, and anger. What I interpreted he was thinking was “Wow… you used an audio of me at my lowest point. Heartbroken my life was ruined and on the edge of suicidal…against me. Reminding me of the feelings I had and the dark hole I was in.” It broke my heart the first time I saw and heard that. Mental Health in no joke and the fact that they tried to use that audio against him is sickening.

Johnny had a history of self harming when he was younger. After listening to him talk about his childhood (in another video of the trial) it most likely explains why he used self harm as a coping mechanism. He has not done it for years but it looks like he relapsed when he was abused by his wife. This audio only shows how distressed Johnny was as a victim of domestic violence as this is similar to what he went through as a victim of child abuse. Very similar situations, same way to cope with the pain. Johnny is not suicidal. Self harming is his way to make the pain go away. The judge has already sided with Amber. Hence the overwhelming amount of objections by Amber's team that were sustained and the ridiculous well timed hearsay objections by Johnny's that were overruled. The situation is she even allowed a tape that she recorded illegally of Johnny to be played for the jury. In the state of California it is illegal to film someone without their permission in their home even if you are their partner.

Listening to that recording was so hard. The fact that she recorded him during a mental breakdown is horrible. He was wanting to hurt himself because of the pain he was feeling and she used it in court to show what? There was no point to it. He wanted to hurt himself. Johnny clearly said, it was to make her go away. In an abusive relationship, people sometimes get so depressed that they would rather take their own life, than to live another moment with the abuse. Judging by her consistent erratic and antagonistic behavior, she was probably antagonizing him just before taping him. Johnny was in grief because of the loss of his Mother. He just couldn't bare anymore her antagonizing him while he was grieving. He just wanted to make her leave him alone. In her twisted mind, she thought of taping this. This is clearly premeditation, a most horrific betrayal of Johnny's trust, and a vile act. Watching her throughout the trial, made me feel sick. Her hysterical behavior should have given everyone a clue just how imbalanced she is. Johnny has always been a sweet, caring, gentle man. Her behavior is clearly monstrous. She has violated Johnny's gentle soul, and I worry about his future. I am disgusted with hollywood and disney for what they did to Johnny. They only made things incredible worse. They had not right to do that, especially after all he did for them.
