I like that Johnny Dollar was very human, not just a compendium of virtues. He could be extremely rude, he was a poor listener, he used people, and he was money hungry. This makes him all the more real and believable.

I was first exposed to OTR back in the late 1990s, because I used to visit northern Connecticut and I stumbled upon a.m. 740 from Toronto, which played (and still does) OTR from 10 to 11 at night. I fell in love with Jack Benny, The Shadow, Fibber McGee, The Bickersons. I never heard them play Johnny Dollar, and in fact only stumbled upon him this year while I was working my way through all the detectives. Sadly, I'm nearly at the end of Johnny Dollar. ,

Been a radio lover since I was a small kid; couple of years old in 49! Hooked on Gunsmoke, my favorite! Johnny Dollar second! Never got tired of these shows, been listening to them for many decades now!
I listened to Radio in the 40s,50s,60s,70s,80s and right up till now. When I first started we didn't have a TV. Many did not. I remember the joy of families getting their first one. Radios in many cases were big pieces of furniture . With the internet those great shows are here again.

O The Old Radio shows were a delight for me ! I was fortunate to have family members that remembered these shows, how the family would sit around the radio listening to shows like Sam Spade,Jonny Dollar, Gun smoke was a big favorite. They could even recite lines back and forth. I was lucky to find many of them on tape.Theyve brought so much joy.Its one of those things that's rarely middle ground.A fan or they think it's "dumb". smh.....poor souls. I feel sorry for them.lol Thank you for all these meals, loved, cherished and appreciated !!!!

There is a character that you find out later is not who he claims to be. When you consider this man's motivations after listening to the entire episode set, the story completely falls apart. I love Bob Bailey's Johnny Dollar. In this one, I love the characters, I love the acting, I love the dialogue and the way the plot twists and turns ratcheting up the suspense until the end. But after realizing this flaw, I feel cheated. When reading the praise for this particular story, it feels ridiculous. There are far better stories within the 5-episode golden era--particularly those written by John Dawson (aka E. Jack Neuman). But a sincere thank you to the channel owner for uploading this document of the great art of a bygone era for a new generation to hear.
