Former QB is expected to be indicted on a misdemeanor assault charge, the Cleveland Browns and his agent dropped him, but is he a victim of celebrity culture or battling addiction?

Johnny Manziel is interested in being famous regardless of whether he's playing football or not. Football got him noticed and his antics got him famous. He's exactly where he wants to be with the media's help. He comes from a very wealthy family with a net worth of $50 million, so he doesn't care that he lost out on $2 million from his NFL contract. He's famous and he's still rich which he thinks gives him a license to act a fool. He's not a football player, lets get that straight. He's nothing more than a socialite like Paris Hilton or the Kardashians.

This guy - like so many - went to rehab, got out and went straight back to the things he was doing that got him into rehab. What people don't seem to get - the easiest place on the planet to get clean & sober is a treatment center. When we leave and face the world - that's when the After-care programs, all treatment centers provide, come into play. We have to embrace the fact - clean & sober is a huge lifestyle change and 4-5 weeks in treatment is NOT the cure. It IS a great head-start to acquiring tools necessary to move forward. If Manziel is the garden-variety alcoholic/addict he seems to be - I'd love to see this guy play football without that monkey on his back. I think he's a world-class douche-bag - but I'd still like to see him at his best. Could be a lot of fun.

What the fuck did they expect? They way overhyped him, they made him seem like he was a God, they handed him millions of dollars on a silver platter, they sold him as the next icon of the NFL, and because of this not only did he not even get 10 TDs in his career but he could barely finish two seasons. The fame went immediately to his head, and he became egotistical, and now no one wants to sign him.
@thamonster1007 жыл бұрын
Manziel was not overhyped not as many people as you think were high on Johnny But he was very good. You are right about the ego. His career isn't over i dont think you understand how hard it is to play at that level.I know him he is a good kid.He just has to look himself in the mirror first even he doesnt play another snap of football i dont give a shit him just being alive and well is way more important than football.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we can credit this to the parents to some degree. Johnny comes from a crazy wealthy family, with roots in the oil business. It was so obvious he was spoiled as a child, and given his insane talent on the field, he was likely given special treatment in school too. His parent's most likely didn't instill in him any sense of valuable work ethic and high moral standards, and that getting by on your talent is good enough. Good job mom and dad......good job.

John will not get the help he needs, plus the motivation to follow through, until he hits rock bottom, aka sick and tired of being sick and tired. 12 step programs are not for those who NEED it, but for those who WANT it. I din't see how people say this kid had all the potential in the world. Manziel is a distraction in the locker room, he's not a hard worker, prefers partying over training. His pocket awareness is average at best, his arm is okay and his accuracy is on his off. Not to mention his wild playing style that will get an undersized QB injured in no time. Manziel is only good when the pocket breaks down and he makes some crazy throws when scrambling. But other of that, I don't see him having success in the NFL

I never believed that Johnny Manziel would have success in the NFL. He didn't strike me as someone who could immediately handle the pressure of being a professional quarterback! As exciting as he was in college, I only projected him worthy of a top 100 pick who would be given every opportunity to grow and prove himself but was he worthy of a 1st round contract? Absolutely not, but when the Browns drafted him, I thought "Of course" and couldn't have rolled my eyes any harder.
