Lyrics
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (Bright), bright (Bright)
Sun-shiny day
It's gonna be a bright (Bright), bright (Bright)
Sun-shiny day
I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I've been prayin' for
It's gonna be a bright (Bright), bright (Bright)
Sun-shiny day
Look all around, there's nothin' but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin' but blue skies
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (Bright), bright (Bright)
Sun-shiny day
It's gonna be a bright (Bright) bright (Bright)
Sun-shiny day
It's gonna be a bright (Bright) bright (Bright)
Sun-shiny day
It's gonna be a bright (Bright) bright (Bright)
Sun-shiny day

i lived with my abusive narcissistic mother up until i was about 12. i loved my dad more than anything, and he fought so hard to get custody of me. when the day finally came, this is the song that played on the radio on the way home from the courthouse. one of the most raw and happy moments of my dad and I’s lives. the pure unstoppable sobs of happiness and relief. the rain had gone.

I got out of the county jail after spending four months in the early 90s,upstate New York, I was clean and sober and in love, everything came together for me so beautifully. I had never experienced tears of joy, until this song happened to come on the radio on a beautiful spring day driving down the road…..Jesus is King! Call to Him he will answer.🙏🏼

I Offered her a lift home, She Accepted It was about 7 mile awayAnd boy did it rain She invited me in for coffee , The air Crew That she shared the house with Thunder an lightning She asked me to Stay The Night in the spare Room . I got into Bed And She went to her Room , Thunder and lightning got very bad She got frightened and came into my Room . She got into bed with me , Don't get the wrong idea We just cuddled each other On hard a good chat, I went home early in the morning The rain had stopped . As I was driving home The Sun came through the clouds I turn on the radio and Johnny Nash Was Singing I can see clearly now The rain has gone It is hard to explain But I felt great from then on. This is the beautiful song sung by the late Johnny Nash in 1972. I remember that my former Fiancee` broke off our engagement in early 1972, which left me devastated. Four months later, I met a girl at work, and was reluctant to ask her out as I was still hurting. TPO cut a long story short; that girl, and I eventually stated dating and on 28 September 1972, we were married. Looking back, my ex did me a favour. My wife and I have now been married for 52 years. We raised a big family and are now the grandparents of 18 beautiful grandchildren. I heard Johnny Nash sing this song prior to our marriage and always relate that song to my close call with a callous girl. R.I.P. Johnny Nash!

This song is about the joy of triumphy, about light at the end of the tunnel, about hope in this moment and the future even in the midst of an impending gloom and doom. This song is about the pursuit of simple things that give one all the happiness that we often gloss over in our blind pursuits in life of wealth, love, and fame.

We decree and declare we can see clearly now the rain is gone the fog is gone, I am that I am arising shinning , I am Kingdom, Life, Love, Joy,Tree of Life as in heaven so on earth all for Gods Glory, we are fulfilling the testament spiritual one we agreed to before the foundations of the world for by the blood of the lamb and the word of testament I, we, us, them are one with living partaking fruit from tree of life that ripens and remains from generation to generations- Shalom Shalom⚡️💥📜🫶🏼🙏😤💯🎯

Wow! I did not realize Mr Nash was the same young actor in the groundbreaking 1959 movie " Take A Giant Step." It was a one of a kind movie for Blacks during that time. Also included the great Beah Richard's and Ruby Dee.

I listened to this song on my Sony Walkman in 1983 while doing our once a year 6 mile milk run in jr. High school this one guy Rodney.C. was always faster than me for 3 years in a row, then during that milk run I started racing him side by side from the starting line, by the half way mark I cranked up the volume of this song and started sprinting for 1 full mile, he was left in my dust way behind, I get close to the finish line and I look over my shoulder and there he is about 200 yards behind me, my gym teacher shouts at me, go Arnold, go, and Rodney's gym teacher yells at him go Rodney, go!!! I run with all my might and crossed the finish line and collapsed. 40 seconds latter he crossed the finish line and also collapsed. He came over to me shakes my hand and said you finally beat me Arnold, congratulations!!! My gym teacher bought me a fancy steak dinner for winning, and the whole high school was talking about me in dis belief and shocked!!! Every one was saying, holy sh.... Arnold finally beat Rodney.C. in the milk run. This song gave me that power needed to beat him and I did. Thanks Johnny Nash. R.I.P.😜💪💪🗝️👍👍🤸🤸🤸🤸🤸🥇😎🇨🇦

I hated this in 1972. Driving from LA to Bellingham, WA. it was on every AM channel every 5 minutes. Now that I'm 70, I love it and want it played at my funeral, but not too soon, mind.

Its sad but my birth mother, if you will, was the obstacle that kept me down (her surrounding use my love for her to keep me down, pimped her, if you will) now that rain is gone. I truly can see clearly now.

Comparing this with the Bobby McFerrin song "Don't Worry, Be Happy" is like night and day. Whenever I hear "Don't Worry, Be Happy", I want to barf. One of the most dreadfully awful saccharine songs ever sung -- if you can call it singing. "I Can See Clearly Now" has simple lyrics, but the singing is wonderful and expresses joy beautifully.
