that line "we give our all to music and pretty soon we'll give our life" hits harder now that both Johnny and Daryle are gone
@donaldpoole29953 жыл бұрын
Johnny wrote the song, its one of the few songs Johnny wrote. Listen to the “Outlaws Prayer” What’s truly upsetting Johnny has not been inducted into the country music hall fame. Johnny and George Jones were best friends. Johnny died broke. George buried his friend in the in the plot George had already purchased for him and his wife. George has a huge grave marker beautiful. Johnnys grave is just a few feet away. The plot is fenced in, has a gate visitors can enter. Now that is what you call a true friend. I had the pleasure of visiting Nashville back in April. They have a bench for you to sit on, I took my guitar and played He Stopped Loving her today for George, and Juke Box Charlie for Johnny.

@@noelco2 yes, Johnny had his problems in life. However, his private life holds no bearing on his public life and his music. When anyone one of us can stand up to announce they've had no issues in life, they they may cast a stone.

It's tough when you come to the realization that you are in the December of your life.Johnny did in fact write this. He also sang on Daryle's recording of this song. It was the last thing he sang because he died very shortly after. This is tough to listen to when you are 70 and in bad heath.

An old weathered Johnny Paycheck was actually on the very end of Daryle Singletary's studio recorded version.

I clicked on this because the only one I had heard recently was George Strait's version. I had no idea that it was a cover. This just proves that I guess I need to go back and pay attention to more older country. Loved it!

It also makes me a bit sad to think that George Strait is at a time in his life or career that he felt to add this song to his last album.

Talk about a man opening up his soul in a song. I saw him perform this on an old Country's Family Reunion show. I think they were surprised he sang it. Seems that was one song that he rarely , if ever, performed anymore.

A sad fact about Johnny, is that he died completely broke. He didnt even have enough money to pay for his burial. So his old friend, who actually gave him his start in music, by having Johnny as his bass player, payed for his funeral, burial plot and his monument. That friend was George Jones. He's buried just a few short feet in front of George in Nashville, in the Jones family plot. Being a Tennesseean, Ive visited their graves, and you talk about a humbling presence there. Great reaction Brother.
