This was in 1966 A lot of these songs can pertain to a variety of situations in peoples' lives. I loved this song when I was 15. Very melancholy, the unattainableness of love to the right one. I was just 15 and very plain and made fun of. I grew out of that, though. I should have stayed home or left when I knew that my friend's boyfriend/boyfriends were on their way to her house. I was mature enough to realize that I was going thru growing pains, in other words: a late bloomer.

Have loved this song since 1966, was a teen who loved so many artists back then & Johnny Rivers was certainly one of my favorite for love ballads! He had lots of hits for you to discover !! ‘Summer Rain’ ‘Secret Agent Man’, ‘Seventh Son’ just a few by Johnny who loved the Memphis sounds of the day. He has forgiveness & love in his heart & doesn’t show jealousy ! The young woman realized who her real love is & they CAN make it together & she will do her best to make him happy & their relationship will be a success 🥰💔❤️‍🩹❣️

I just subscribed to your channel based on this first reaction. This song cuts deep and is one of my favorites. Cut the woman some slack as she was just trying to make it out the only way she knew how. Their relationship will only be stronger now that she knows that there is no easy way out and that she has the love and support of a man who cares.

This is the one ballad that Johnny Rivers is known for. But honestly, he was best known for more rockin' music, as he's also known as something of a guitar virtuoso. Check out his songs "Secret Agent Man" (which was popular when the James Bond movies were especially popular, and "Seventh Son." His catalog extends well beyond those two songs, but that'll get you started.

Once a blind trust is broken, there is always a piece of you that does not trust wholly again. Look elsewhere. That maybe not so flashy pretty or quiet girl on the side where you did not look before may be the love of your life. The choices are big and will affect your daily life. Once you make it out of the poor side of town, should you always be wondering if she is going to stay true. Not a good way to live. Just saying.
