As a child of the 70s, I'll never forget names like Rutherford, Andretti, Foyt and Johncock when it comes to IndyCar racing. Nice interview K.P.!

Lonestar JR! The very first race I ever saw was the 1974 Indy 500 on TV. I was 10. I fell in love with auto racing and Johnny Rutherford was my driver until he retired.

Growing up in the 60's watching races on TV with my dad , Johnny Rutherford was my first racecar driver hero....a fantastic man and still one of my heroes!!!!!!👍😎🍻🍻🍻

Not only could he drive the wheels off of just about anything, he is one of the nicest people I've ever met too. And probably the best signature I've ever seen as well. I always joked as a kid that he has led more laps than any other IndyCar driver, because he drove the pace car at the time.

Great interview Kyle. Have been an Indy car fan since the 60’s and loved it when some of those guys also raced in NASCAR. I can’t remember, but if you haven’t interviewed AJ Foyt, would love for you to talk to him especially since he drove in quite a few NASCAR races and still active as Indy car owner.

Spent an evening with JR before the Indy 500 one year. He was just the same, and told me that story about the Eddie Sachs crash. As well as some other fascinating accounts of his career. Absolute gentleman and icon. Great stuff, KP!

Saw J.R. win at Phoenix in 1977.I believe he led every lap and kept 2nd place A.J. a straightaway behind him the whole race. There was not too many Offy's. either.

I had the honor of having a brief phone conversation with Johnny Rutherford many years ago. I had some materials to send to him, but shipping details were needed which required a phone call; where I was provided a phone number. I dialed the number and I certainly recognized his voice when he answered it. He was very pleasant and gracious in that brief phone conversation; where I struggled to contain my excitement. A most memorable moment, indeed!
