You're right, it's Jerry Nolan, Billy Rath and Sylvain Sylvain, of the New York Dolls. Sylvain is the one who taught Johnny to play guitar, before the Dolls. So Johnny formed a band, named Actress, for a short period before the Dolls. Johnny used to be a beginner for bass playing, until Sylvain showed him the basics of guitar playing

IF YOU DON'T GET THIS, IF YOU DONT GET IT, THEN YOU NEVER EVER WILL, AND ITS AS SIMPLE AS THAT. THERE IS AN ELEMENT TO JOHNNY THUNDERS AND THE SCENE THEN IN THE 70S-80S THAT IS LOST ON THE PEOPLE THAT ARE JUST TOO SQUARE ESSENTIALLY, DUMB AND INSENSITIVE. HE WAS A REAL ARTIST. NOT A MANUFACTURED PIECE A BULL SHIT. RIP JOHNNY.

They probably had technical issues. Anyone that knows the history of rock and roll know that Johnny Thunders at times played as great as any rock musician ever, especially the bands he was in. He was a guitarist first, singing was incidental.
