@@VilleMaunu With all due respect, neither Johnny's trio with Jon Paris and Bobby Torello nor any subsequent lineup could hold a candle to this '74 band for sheer ferocity and EXCITEMENT! Johnny and Floyd Radford had an affinity that was nothing short of telepathic, but second guitarist Doug Brockie really lit a FIRE under Johnny's ass on this tour.

I saw Johnny Winter several times in the 70's, 80's and a year before he died. He was at his best with this band and Johnny Winter And. It's truly a shame youtube doesn't have better footage available. I hope whoever owns all of his tapes will release material from the 70's with both bands. JW is the reason I took up guitar back in the 70's. I couldn't believe how good he was, especially playing slide guitar and blues. All of those SRV fans have no idea how great JW was. I think this concert is giving a good hint of that.

Saw Johnny at The Ballard Firehouse in Seattle in the early 00s. I think it was his glass cane phase. His physical ailments interfered with his playing a bit in that he wasn't dancing and twirling with a cape ... but he was still amazing ....played 'Drop the Bomb' as an encore ....

This is not 1973 but it is in fact early 1974, yes Johnny is in good form here, there is a show around the same time maybe the night before or after where he is in bad shape and obviously stoned but this is not it. Been listening to Johnny since 69. One of the very best guitar players ever.

@@lfader Since Day 1, when bootleg records of this Selland Arena show first surfaced in underground record stores, it has been mislabeled as having been recorded in San Diego the night before. But it the San Diego show was crap and couldn't be used. So they tried again the next night, and Johnny and the band brought their A game. Wolfgang's Vault owns the entire King Biscuit archive, and the shows are correctly and authoritatively identified there.
