Mixed videos from the 80s. One where johnny almost gets hit with a bottle and then ends the show. Enjoy!

The speed of Johnny's guitar playing and heavy drums makes me think that this should be called 'Heavy Blues/Country/Rock'. I just discovered Johnny's music and I'm surprised that he isn't considered more of a 'Guitar God' that's more widely known. Johnny's playing is off the charts!

Me and my dad used to go see Johnny whenever he came back to his hometown.... Great memories. I was amazed when I went to Baltimore and saw his name was pretty much global in the 90's. Johnny is defiantly a motivating factor here.... Thanks for posting his music.

You probably have a bunch of people who don't have the ears to evaluate what they're listening to. I wouldn't sweat it. I don't believe he's underrated though. I think that people who can objectively judge what's good guitar playing give Johnny his due. He made the cover of Guitar Player mag at least once. I think that counts for more than what random people think.

Great post. Unbelievable that there's an absolute legend playing and some dirtbag found a reason to toss a bottle at him. I don't blame them for walking off. I've seen it happen at many shows and never understood it.
He came out of the womb with his hands poised and ready for the guitar. Entered next magical.mystical musical worid still clutching it. Part.of his body and soul. The.king forever no one can take his throne or crown

I love Johnny Winter! My earliest Rock and Blues guitar influence! Got to see him LIVE in St. Louis, MO after his stroke. He wailed that night with one flawless solo after the other all night! One of the best EVER!

The bassist plugging away while doubling on harmonica at the same time on the first song there, incredible. Some people just ARE music, or musical conduits I guess.

Had no peers when playing slide guitar and I think when he went back to playing straight blues in mid seventies was when I thought he was at his best. I was fortunate enough to see him at least a half dozen times and got to see him do awesome version of the song rock and roll during which the rest of the band took a break and a single spotlight was on Johnny as he sat on a stool breaking it down and tearing it up on slide as always. RIP 🙏 👍

This had me scrambling to my box of tix stubs. Found it!! April 26,1986 Keany Gym at URI..w/ George Thoroughgood ..$12 !! (students $8 ) I remember after the show we were hanging around his tour bus. Hoping to meet him. A roadie came to the door and said he's on the bus but not coming out. I asked the guy if he could get me a autograph. I handed him a $1 bill to sign. Guy goes back in ... minutes go by...more mins .. I'm thinking "there goes that $1". Bus door opens ..guy hands me my $1. Nice long full signature...legible... The length of the bill. One of my greatest little R+Roll treasures I'll have forever!!

Amazing compilation congratulations… I have a question (what is the name and date of the concert where someone in the audience throws a bottle at Johnny?) (did you know that the same thing happened to Johnny in 1980 when he went to play in Mexico ?) could only play three songs the fourth song called (stranger) someone from the audience threw a bottle at him that hit him on the microphone pole near the foot and Johnny did the same and left without saying anything!..

Thanks for the video great have been a Johnny fan for all my adult life took my son to to bishopstock festival and John was top of the bill unfortunately he could not play as he had a stroke and he came on stage and apologised for not being able to play it really upset me and my son he never played standing up again! Me and my son did see him though and he was brilliant! God bless j.d.w.

Saw something similar, proly around 1987, with this same band, in Seattle. Johnny was kinda at his peak. He had just played the best night I'd ever seen him play. Came back on stage for an encore, started playing Wildwood Flower. I was blown away. Never heard him play that, live or recorded. Some guy in front jumping up and down with a beer in his hand. The beer went in a slow motion arc upwards, and came down, splashed all over Johnny and guitar. He stopped, says "f you", flipped off the crowd and walked off stage, end of show. People wanted to beat that guy. That's the last time I went to see him..
