We are losing too many legends and Johnny passing in the last few days breaks my heart. May he rest in peace.

Saw Johnny Winters in '76 and Muddy many times...both great musicians. Once after a Muddy show, I popped round to the back and spoke with Muddy about working Johnny. It was '79 I believe. Seemed happy at the mention of Johnny Winters. Kinda perked up and smiled just thinking about it.

I have always admired Johnny's talent and skills as a musician, singer and song writer. As a musician myself, he was and still is a great source of inspiration. My hat goes off too you Johnny!

Johnny is Proof that we have but two Enemies in this Life. Ourselves and Time. Thank You Johnny for all that you have given us. You are indeed a Legend. And it really sucks that The Rock n Roll Hall of Shame doesn't see it that way.

The three records JW produced with Muddy Waters are national treasures, pure and simple. The sweet sweet rendition of "Can't be satisfied" always gives me goosebumps, it's so joyful and alive.

Saw Mr. Winter perform a couple years back, here in Los Angeles. He had his hair out. Long and Platinum. He looked like a Blues guitar Wizard. Great show.

Those Blue Sky albums are awesome. Johnny helped Muddy a lot, helped him revive his career and brought the Blues to a whole new generation. They recorded Hard again in a little home studio in Westport CT, the next town over from where I grew up. Johnny is the man.

He seemed at his happiest during the years he spent with Muddy Waters. In 1977 Johnny & Muddy were about the only guys still playing REAL Blues whilst so many sold out to Disco or Rock. Johnny had the choice to go commercial and he stuck to his own principals. I 'll always admire the guy for that.

I saw Johnny play on a west-side pier in NYC in the early '80s--his mike went out so he just played for an extended period until the microphone issue was resolved. His seamless, fluid improvisations were so compelling that boats out on the Hudson all pulled in close to better hear the wonderful sound of Johnny's guitar playing. It's a vivid memory of a great artist's stream of consciousness, expressing himself outside the boundaries or the constriction of a particular piece of music.

Saw Johnny many times, and Muddy just one amazing time. Two perennial favorites. Inspired by both these great musicians, and decent fellas.

I wonder what is wrong with his eye??? I saw Johnny at a club in Dallas in the early 80's, I stood there the whole time with my jaw on the floor in sheer amazement.

Recently-ish I saw Johnny play at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park NJ. Someone came out and lay Johnny's Fender Flying V on his lap and he commenced into Highway 61. I remember the power of Johnny in the 1970s when he'd open with The Good Love and use a lot of phase-shifting. But standing about 10 feet away from him that night I will never forget the power that came out of him when he shot out proclaiming "GOD said Abraham kill me a son". It felt like he was telling me why he was on Earth.

Can you imagine JW and Muddy hangin' out? That's a fantasy of just about any guitarist. To be in that class of music history. It doesn't get any better. We love you Johnny. Thanks for all the great music and we hope you keep playin' away. Just as long as you want to.

@jonno63 still alive and well;-D I've seen him on stage last year in Lübeck in Germany where he played as ever *super-genius* but his was sitting the whole "show" (compared to 10 years ago it's a shame) and to come in and sit down he needs guidance cause his sight is really bad now - but he sits down and starts playing and everybody is gone.....

@longtalltexan63 It appears to be some sort of facial paralysis..maybe Bell's Palsy or Myasthenia Gravis. They are not life threatening conditions but could be the accumulative result of hard living. I wish him well whatever the case. The first time i saw JW was in April 1970, Royal Albert Hall. Mindblowing!! I saw Hendrix perform there too but preferred Johnny Winter. Their are clips of that concert here on YT.

I'm surprised that Johnny actually speaks like a human being in sentences - all this time I thought he just moaned and howled! Johnny is KING and has been for a LONG time - even though King isn't his last name! LOL. The real thing, made in USA.
